Upcoming: Wood Finishes Put to the Test

Last night, we stopped by EcoHome Improvement to see their newly expanded showroom—they're now offering design services and locally built, zero VOC, FSC-certified cabinetry.

But owner Taja Di Leonardi could barely contain her excitement about two new finish products.

SoyGuard, an exterior wood finish made from soybean oil and intended for all exterior wood surfaces was recented added to the shelves at EcoHome Improvement. It goes on in one coat and lasts for two years. The store's resident finishes expert, a physicist by training, was really impressed by the durability of this product.

PolyWhey finish is also coming into the store soon. AT reader Raedia tipped us off to this product in a comment, so we were delighted to hear it would be available in a store near us. (Also, Raedia and Ian were kind enough to share this house tour with us.)

We've been invited back to try out the products ourselves... look for another post soon with the details.
