Use Google Maps To See Potential New Homes

We can't all jump right up and go see a house or apartment that we find right away online. Schedules and life get in the way, so we must wait. If you're anything like the average person, patience is something you could work on a little. So, instead of waiting until you can cruise around the new neighborhood &mdash look at it on Google.

Google Maps can be used for anything &mdash driving directions, maps of new places or even to view actual satellite images taken of neighborhoods. We've used Google Maps to get driving directions to check out a new apartment, but we've just recently discovered checking out the satellite option to see surrounding areas.

Even though you can't get a view of the neighbors, or see if there's a noisy dog on the street &mdash you can see if there's a grocery store, post office or laundry facility close by. These are important features that some over look due to the excitement of moving and finding a great apartment.

If you've already checked out the neighborhood online, you'll know whether your car free household can maintain your lifestyle if there isn't a grocery store near by. If you have children, Google Maps is a great and easy way to see how close a new school is, without having to keep bugging your realtor (if you're lucky enough to have one!)

Have you used Google Maps to scout potential new homes?
