Vacuum Furnace Filters For Less Frequent Changes

When was the last time you replaced the filter on your furnace? You probably know if you're someone who has recently turned on their heat, but did you know you could change them less often if you busted out your vacuum a few times a year? It's true! Here are a few tips to getting the job done.

Changing our your furnace filters runs somewhere between $20-$40 for most households. Although we're all for changing them out for better home health, that doesn't mean we can't try to help them run more efficiently and last longer.

Simply take your vacuum and suck up the debris and dust that has accumulated. Pet owners will want to do this more frequently as hair from your four legged friend will accumulate rather rapidly, especially in the beginning of the winter months when shaggy under coats are starting to grow in.

You can extend the life of your filter by several months if you keep up with it, sometimes even double the length of time needed before replacing. It's a simple trick that can save you a little cash and keep your furnace working more efficiently in the process.
