Valspar’s 2021 Colors of the Year Are Designed To Help You Navigate Your Next DIY Project

’Tis the season for paint brands to reveal their Color(s) of the Year. Sherwin-Williams picked Urbane Bronze to create a nostalgia-inducing sanctuary, while PPG went with a full palette that works toward achieving a wellness-focused balance. And now, it’s Valspar’s turn to have its moment of colorful glory—and DIYs are part of the story.

The paint brand announced their Colors of the Year, a palette of 12 shades that work together to blend “home improvement with self-improvement.” It’s exactly what it sounds like: to cater to one’s mindfulness and self-care activities that are happening in the home, PPG released a collection that will help you navigate through your DIY projects. That way, you’ll achieve your desired physical space while also best supporting your mental space.

“Our homes have become offices, entertainment centers and classrooms—which means the colors, sights and sounds in our rooms have an even bigger impact on our daily lives” Sue Kim, Valspar Color Marketing Manager, said in a press release. “These lifestyle changes coupled with a surge in DIY home activity helped guide our selection of a range of colors for Valspar’s 2021 Colors of the Year that can not only transform your space but also elevate your mood.”

Calm and comfort is at the core of what all 12 hues works toward achieving, creating a serene space where wellness activities can take place. The purpose of Valspar’s Colors of the Year is to make it easy to pick the color for your next DIY project and get you closer to establishing the space that makes you feel best.

The names of each color speaks for themselves. For example, there’s Blissful Blue that is “a muted indigo taps into the organic tones of a morning mist,” according to the press release.

There’s also Soft Candlelight that’s described as warm and radiant, with a mature yellow hue that “lights up a space with a golden glow.”

And how about Dusty Lavender, which evokes a strong sensation that’s warm and inviting. It’s described by the press release as “Shadowy Pastel” and “Balanced Vibrancy.”
