Attention Vinyl Lovers: A Record Club for a New Generation
When I was down in High Point celebrating our curated furniture collaboration with Cloth & Company and Amazon last month, I met a lot of wonderful people at our launch party, some who worked in the furniture industry and some who did not. One acquaintance in the latter category was one of the founders of Vinyl Me, Please, who gave me a first-hand account of his company and its story. I can only describe Vinyl Me, Please as a service that mixes subscription boxes, book of the month clubs, and your local record store, and I knew it was something that our readers needed to see. Personally, I have never considered myself much of a record person, but I got myself signed up right away; by the time I was back in New York, I had my first record delivered to my doorstep. Today I’m going to unbox it with you so you can get an insider peek and see if you too want to join the club!

The Backstory
Vinyl Me, Please was founded in 2013 and is now based in Denver, but its roots go back to Chicago where the two founders were living as roommates. After getting a turntable for Christmas, they found themselves struggling to select good vinyl among all the choices in town or online. They decided to create a record club for a modern generation and voila: Vinyl Me, Please was born. Through a tangible, meaningful, and personal experience, they are now connecting their ever-expanding membership with great music every month.
And this month marks the 52nd record that VMP has put out for their monthly club, and it’s certainly a special one: Fiona Apple’s “Tidal,” an album that has never been pressed to vinyl before. I can’t wait to listen.
How it Works
Picture that super cool friend you have that you always turn to for music suggestions. Now imagine that instead of telling you what album you should listen to, that friend actually mails it to your house along with liner notes and artwork. Sounds great, right? In essence, that’s Vinyl Me, Please.
Choose from a 3-month, 6-month, or annual plan. While the prices vary depending on the length of your commitment, the membership still includes the same delicious ingredients:
- Special edition LP of the VMP experts’ choosing, delivered to your door
- An original art print + custom cocktail to match the music
- First dibs on exclusive records in the online store
- “The Standard,” a weekly newsletter with music and latest news
- Free and unlimited swaps: if the record of the month isn’t your cup of tea, you can simply swap it out for another in the archive before it ships!
Think of it like a music care package.
VMP also has a lot to offer a la carte: you can shop their record collection (it includes curated titles, new releases, reissues, and box sets), merch, even turntables. Between their store and the monthly subscription, pretty soon you will have a nice fat stack of awesome records to display however your heart desires.
Perfect For
Anyone you know (maybe it’s you!) who is trying to expand their vinyl collection and are down for a surprise. Let’s face it: any big music buffs in your life probably own (or have their own super cool exclusive means to find) all the records they want to have. But Vinyl Me, Please is ideal for all those other music lovers out there. The VMP team of experts will only send you what they 100% believe in, whether it’s a brand new album you may not know or a classic that you may want to reacquaint yourself with. Join the club as a little “treat yoself” or give it as a present (Father’s day, anyone?) — this is certainly the gift that keeps on giving.
