Warm Red Walls, Doors, & Floors

Red is one of those high-energy colors that can breathe a lot of life into a room, so much so that many people shy away from using it. We've seen it used very elegantly as an accent...

In China, red is a lucky color. Here in the west, it's thought of as strong and aggressive. All of the homes above use red in different, but equally intriguing ways. It's a great color to use on a front door, creating a bright and bold first impression. It's more commonly used as an accent in rugs, textiles, and furnishings, but if you're really looking for a way to make your home stand out, you might consider using red on the floor. We love the way the dark red floors look in Paola and John's home and in Chicago's Wo Hing Society.
