The current coronavirus pandemic has forced us to change in many ways. Most notably, we’re staying put at home, which means we’re cooking more at home. And that means most people are washing dishes way more than they used to. Like, way more.

Every night, after we’ve made what feels like our 100th batch of brownies, we look at the sink and think: Again? While it might not seem funny in the moment when you’re grabbing the soap and sponge or loading and unloading the dishwasher, it’s nice to know you’re not alone in this seemingly endless cycle. Yes, your neighbors probably have prune-y hands, too.

To help you laugh a little bit about your daily, mundane struggle (because we all need a little more of that!), we’ve rounded up some of the most painfully accurate descriptions of washing dishes that we’ve seen on the internet. We bet you can relate.

Most of our “free” time is really just spent doing the dishes.

You might have thought because you’re staying at home that you’d have more free time to start a new book or take an online cooking class, but in reality your time looks more like this.

And just when you think you’re done, dishes magically reappear in the sink.

Oh, you thought you were done with doing the dishes? Think again.

You can try to make a “game” out of the situation, but you know you’re just lying to yourself.

Even if you have the most delicious-smelling soap and the best tunes, dishwashing will never be fun.

But sometimes it gets so bad you just want to run away forever.

But really, how far can you actually run?

After this is all over, relationship goals will look different.

Being kind and supportive is nice, but how do they feel about doing the dishes?

And everyone is going to have strong opinions on the correct way to wash the dishes.

If you didn’t have a technique for washing the dishes before March, you certainly have opinions now.

In 2019 you binge-watched shows on Netflix, but in 2020? It’s all about the dirty dishes.

Not quite To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, but we’ll take it.
