WD TV Live Plus HD Adds Netflix Capability

While it's not a complete re-think of the set top box like Google TV, incremental changes to Western Digital's WD TV Live Plus are always welcome, even if it's just the additional of Netflix to its growing feature set.

For those who are not familiar with the WD TV set top box, it's pretty much designed to complement the rest of the Western Digital external hard drive line. The latest addition is the WD TV Live Plus Media Player includes access to your Netflix unlimited membership and other premium content, in addition to its ability to stream online services like Pandora and YouTube, and smooth handling of music and pictures on your hard drives.

The updated box can be had for a nice affordable price of $150. Compared to the WD TV HD, which runs $130, the small price difference may just be enough to justify the upgrade. On the other hand, we're always open to firmware upgrades so curb down the increased production of tech junk, so hopefully Western Digital may consider that route instead in the future when adding features.
