Love plants, but the unfortunate owner of a black thumb? Fiber artist Sarah K. Benning creates modern embroidery that's full of greenery and mid-century style.

The Baltimore-based artist discovered her love of embroidery "almost by accident" and the hobby turned into a business. Each work starts as a sketch, rooted in Benning's love of mid-century design, antique textiles, and her extensive plant collection. It is then transformed into the detailed scenes above, with the thread becoming "more like ink or paint."

Benning offers original works, cards, and patches in her shop, as well as a monthly embroidery pattern on Etsy.
