Weekend Project: Easy Peasy Painted Trees

How did you spend your weekend? Me? I spent mine in a forest. Well, slight correction, I spent mine painting a forest. How do you turn a small awkward corner into a French reading nook? A little paint and a few pieces from IKEA of course!

This past weekend a friend asked me to paint trees on this corner nook in her son's upstairs bedroom. She was looking to give it purpose, even though it's technically just the walkway to their new nursery. The idea was to turn it into a small French library.

It holds all the French books in their home and keeps them separate from everything else. The wall mural was created with a fresh roll of painter's tape and a little patience. There's no need to worry about the width, or even shape of the trees. Mix things up - fat branches, skinny branches or none. It's an easy way to customize a space without over thinking or needing to call in friends that are artists!

One word of advice, use a credit card and smooth all the tape lines before starting, even if you already smoothed them over with your hand first. It's a great tip that can mean the difference between clean, modern trees and those with slightly more natural lines.
