We know that well-being is influenced by our immediate surroundings so, this weekend, do a few concrete things in your living room to lift your mood and make yourself smile. You'll put the mental weight of winter behind you, and your home will become a lighter, more buoyant, and cheerful place to be.
This Weekend's Assignment: Lighten your living room's load, and layer in decor for warmer weather.
Declutter The Coffee Table: This is the epicenter of your living room lives, and it's both loved and abused on a daily basis. Get rid of old magazines, return dishes to the kitchen, and clean the surface before putting everything back in its place. Corral loose items with a box or tray to make it look less out of control.
Lighten Up For Spring: Swap out any decor that reminds you of winter. Retire heavier fabrics like wool, velvet, and fur, and introduce linens and other lighter fabrics. Swap out any shag rugs for lighter kilim or jute ones. Lastly, introduce a few new (or new-to-you) things that boost your mental and physical energy levels. Fresh flowers are always a really nice thing this time of year.
Remember, as with all of our Weekend Projects, just do what you have the time and energy to do. This is a marathon, not a sprint!
