Weekend Project: Organize Your Books

Books. We all have them, we all love them, but sometimes it can start to feel like they're taking over your life. What do you do when a beloved collection gets a little out of control? Here are three videos from our archives that will help you get a handle on your books.

Do you have trouble giving things away? Are your shelves jammed full of books that you keep meaning to read, but never quite get around to? In this video from our archives, Maxwell shares his thoughts on 'keeping your book supply fresh.' By clearing out space on your shelves, you can make your bookshelves more visually appealing — and enhance your enjoyment of the books you really love.

Once you've pared down your books a little, maybe you'd like to mark your favorite ones with bookplates. This way, you can lend them out and know that they'll always come back to you.

And finally, professional organizer Amelia Meena has a tip that's especially relevant to book collections (or any other kind of collection, for that matter): live within your means. No, she's not talking about money, but about space, and her thoughts about corralling clutter will have you seeing your collections in a whole new way.

Thanks for watching, and happy organizing!
