    • V for Version performance and video marathon at Illinois Institute of Technology takes place in the world class facilities of the McCormick Tribune Student Center.

  • Fundraiser for Beacon Street Gallery
    • Beacon Street’s art programs have benefited 18,500 kids over the years. Tickets are just $25 and include food, bar and a performance by the 1900s. There will also be the work of about 30 artists on display.

  • Going Underground exhibition lecture
    • Going Underground, co-presented by Columbia College Chicago. Danny Hoch, hip-hop historian Jeff Chang, graffiti writer and producer Angela “Ang13” Zone, artist James “Casper” Jankowiak, and others from across genres discuss the hip-hop movement as a way to view the world and the impact of youth culture in their work. The discussion is moderated by Stephanie Shonekan, Professor of Cultural Studies at Columbia College Chicago.

  • Chris Ware opening at MCA
    • Chris Ware, often described as an ‘alternative cartoonist,’ is best-known as the creator of the Acme Novelty Library, publications in various formats that feature the adventures of such characters as Quimby the Mouse and Jimmy Corrigan. Not quite comic books, not quite graphic novels, Ware’s work mines art history, popular culture, and personal experience, capturing a queasy sense of reality of modern life in a “retro” style distinctly his own.

  • School of the Art Institute Graduate Exhibition
    • Over 150 students completing the MFA in Studio and the MFA in Writing Degrees, the Post-Baccalaureate Writing Certificate and the Post- Baccalaureate Studio Certificate will exhibit their work. Studio areas represented are: Art and Technology Studies, Ceramics, Fiber and Material Studies, Film, Video, and New Media, Interior Architecture, Painting and Drawing, Performance, Photography, Printmaking, Sculpture, Visual Communication, and Writing.

  • The Unveiling of Rough:Space Gallery with Converging Histories
    • Featuring new media work by Miroslaw Rogala and Rob Mazurek. Two of Chicago’s outstanding media artists inaugurate the unveiling of our new contemporary art galleries at the DANK Museum. This rough hewn space provides the functional backdrop of a fine art gallery within the German Cultural Center.
