Here’s How You Can Stay Overnight in the Oscar Meyer Weinermobile
With the arrival of National Hot Dog Day (that would be today, July 17, if you were unaware), most people who celebrate the day are busy searching for somewhere to take advantage of a free dog or irresistible food deal. After consuming a hearty meal, these satisfied hot dog-seekers will likely fall into a food coma, and we can’t think of a more suitable spot to lie down and snooze than in the Oscar Meyer Wienermobile.
Yes, you read that right: Oscar Meyer is commemorating National Hot Dog Day by listing the Wienermobile on Airbnb. Usually, the bun-shaped vehicles are strictly used for advertising purposes, but for the first time since the hot dog on wheels’ 1936 debut, the company will allow its supporters to experience how it feels to be human wiener comfortably wedged in a larger-than-life bun. And even better, this hot dog room-for-a-night comes with more than your traditional toppings, courtesy of hosts Oscar Mayer Hotdoggers, AlexanDog and Jake-N-Bacon.
Of the six-vehicle fleet, one of the 27-foot mobile hotdogs will be parked in Chicago for the occasion. Inside, the vehicle-turned-temporary-Airbnb rental comes with amenities like a mini-fridge filled with Chicago-style hot dog necessities, custom-made artwork from local artist Laura Kiro inspired by the Wienermobile, an outdoor area for stuffing your face full of ‘dogs and a roller grill on which visitors can prepare Oscar Mayer hot dogs to take home. Wieners to go, FTW! Additionally, guests will be treated to a “Sun’s Out, Buns Out” welcome package of hot dog-themed attire because who spends the night in a hot dog and doesn’t dress the part?
While these sound like the most inviting food-centric digs we’ve come across in a while, guests need not get too comfortable with the thought of living inside a humongous hot dog. Wienermobile stays will be limited to one night per individual. Booking dates will be added on July 24, with availability from August 1-3.
