Q: Hello! I just moved to a new apartment and I'm struggling with a closet full of the most useless shelves I've ever encountered. The closet is in my back room and I'd like to use it for miscellaneous storage: craft supplies, extra blankets, clothing that's not often worn. Unfortunately, it's full of shelves that seem like they would fit a CD collection very well, but nothing else. Books don't fit. Shoes don't fit. The shelves are very well-adhered, so I can't remove them. I'm hoping for some ideas about how to transform this space into something useable! -Sent by Ruthie
Editor: If I lived in Ruthie's apartment, I'd be both frustrated by the uselessness of those shelves... and tempted to style/merchandise them within an inch of their lives. Finally, the perfect spot to display my Japanese ceramics, international baking supplies, and mismatched matryoshkas! But assuming Ruthie lives in the real world and not Shopgirl Fantasy Land, what should she do?
