Q: I was recently elected onto my Co-op board for 2 small connected 5 story walk-up buildings on the UES and my main duty is to research ROOF DECKS. We have an incredibly small/ awkward area to work with, but I think with some innovative design ideas it could turn into a nice place to enjoy the outdoors for the tenants and increase the buildings property value. Do I need an architect? Are there fire code laws I need to be worried about? Is it something a contractor can do alone? Do you have any recommendations? This would have to be on the cheap...
