Have you been to the beach lately? Me too! As fun as it was, it was also a pain in the butt. So much to schlep! So I went in search of some gear hacks to make the process of beach-going a little easier. Why didn't I know about this stuff before?
A better beach bag
A cute bag that will haul your stuff but not haul pounds of sand home with you?! Great! We love the industrial (and inexpensive) window screen material used here and the bright orange and leather accents. Feeling handy? DesignSponge has the DIY instructions.
A towel with pockets
This Martha Stewart project is a great idea. She's selling you on the idea that it's a nice way to store your stuff, but I'd also note that it's even nicer to weigh down the corners of your towel so it doesn't blow away. Double duty! Pro tip: one commenter here had the genius idea of making the pockets of mesh like the bag above so they don't fill up with sand!
A bag/towel/pillow combo job
This amazing (and comprehensive tutorial) from Brit+Co let's you use your towel first as a bag (with added straps and pocket) and then as a great nap vehicle. You're gonna need a sewing machine, but it's not too hard. If you can sew a few straight lines, you'll be golden.
The key keeper
This is a great make-a-blanket tutorial from The Mother Huddle, but what caught my eye most was this genius key ring clip idea. You could so easily add one of these to any store-bought beach or picnic blanket and never bury your keys in the sand again.
