Wicker Baskets: The Anti-Media Cabinet

Here's a crazy idea. Instead of investing thousands into an oak media cabinet, grab an extra-large wicker basket and throw all of your home theater stuff into it. Consider it a quick and dirty way to hide all that tech and its associated wires. Just make sure there's plenty of holes (and maybe Bluetooth support).

The IcOn Furniture Wicker Basket with Lid available here.

  • Get a Lid, Duh! You're not really hiding much if you don't have a lid to cover it all up. Grab an appropriately sized wicker basket and make sure it comes with one.
  • It's Okay, Bad Wicker is Good: Surprisingly, this may be the one and only time you'll want to go for wicker that has plenty of holes for proper ventilation of your electronics. It might even be a better idea to go used at this point.
  • Punch Holes. Lots.: If you're comfortable with it, you can get a good cord management system going if you're willing to punch a few holes to wrap and route cables in and out of the wicker basket. Plus, it'll certainly help with ventilation if you own tech that runs hot.
