Boston's Roxbury neighborhood is home to two, interconnected non-profit organizations that every do-it-yourselfer should know about: The Boston Building Materials Co-op (sells new household building supplies) and the Building Materials Resource Center (sells secondhand, salvaged building supplies)...
Tomorrow night (Tuesday June 3) the BBMC is offering a reduced-testosterone evening of women tradespeople sharing info with women do-it-yourselfers. The event will provide information about home improvements, financing home projects and legal issues related to homeownership. You'll have a chance to talk with a general contractor; landscaper; kitchen, window, and door specialist; attorney; carpenter; electrician; architect; plumber; pest management specialist; holistic design and space planner; home safety specialist; and a HomeWorks financing coordinator.
What better way to meet some women contractors to add to your address book for the next time your do-it-yourself project morphs into a call-someone-else-to-do-it project! This is a free event from 5:30 to 7:00 with free childcare!

(We know, we know…we're gender stereotyping with the picture of the pink women's toolbelt we snagged from girlylock.com, but you get the idea.)
