“Work hard and be nice to people.” The saying is simple, and the poster is, well, everywhere. You’ve probably spotted the famous Schoolhouse print (or a similar variation) on Instagram or Pinterest on more than a few occasions over the past year or so, which leads me to wonder… is this the new “it” poster?

I’ve been a proud owner of the poster for about a year now. I love the look, first of all. In my opinion, you can’t really go wrong with black-and-white typography, as it’s eye-catching but still matches almost any type of decor. The saying originally struck me as a bit too cheesy, but I was won over by the fact that this poster is truly a design piece (à la the infamous “For Like Ever” the “it” poster of years past) and isn’t the kind of quote art that you’ll come across at any department or discount store. Plus, cheesy or not, the message really is positive and empowering, and adds a cheerful touch to any home office, living room, or play space.

Take note that these posters don’t come cheap (they retail for $99 on Schoolhouse’s website, and I have yet to see them go on sale), but you can totally get around the framing cost (an additional $170) by purchasing your own similar thin black frame, which is what I did. (We love these options for good, cheap frames.) The poster has now moved from one room of my apartment to another, and I love catching glimpses of it each day.

Oversized posters are also an easy alternative to doing a full gallery wall. Hang the poster on its own or alongside a couple of other pieces of art, and voila, your boring white wall is full of life! I have mine hanging above a bistro set in a room that already has a gallery wall in another area, so I like how it fills the remaining space without looking chaotic or busy. If you love the look of bold typography on a white background and want to see more, we’ve rounded up some of our other favorites from around the web.

So what do you think? Have you spotted this poster as frequently as we have, and are you a fan?
