Yankee Candle Just Announced Its 2021 Scent of the Year
Our homes and the atmosphere within have been more important than ever in the past year. And while it might have started to feel a little repetitive doing everything in one space, scent is a great way to mix things up. Thankfully, Yankee Candle has announced its 2021 Scent of the Year, and it’s ready to take you on a journey.
Called Discovery, the fragrance is a mix of red ginger, mango, passionfruit, and starfruit, among other tropical flavors, creating “a symphony that reflects the ways we want to live our lives: blooming with curiosity, creativity, and spirit,” the company says. It’s grounded by base notes of tonka and vanilla spice. If you’ve been itching to hop on a plane to somewhere — anywhere! — else, here’s a vacation in a jar.
“Aromas do have the capacity to help us discover new things, make new memories, and embrace new connections,” Yankee Candles says in a press announcement. And anything new sounds pretty great right about now.
Fragrance expert Taylor Perlis told Apartment Therapy that tropical scents have been trending lately. “Scents like starfruit and pineapple paired with a bit spice or herbs have been growing in popularity” as a way of escape from the day-to-day.
Discovery is the brand’s third ever Scent of the Year, following 2019’s One Together and 2020’s Awaken. This is the first one to debut in the newly redesigned Signature Collection tumblers that feature two wicks and a lid that serves as a coaster. And, the Moroccan-inspired pattern “provides a luminary effect when lit.”
The candle is available for Yankee Candle Rewards members starting today, March 16, and worldwide on International Fragrance Day, March 21.
