The appeal of a handwritten note has never been lost on us, but with the introduction of the world’s first global stone paper stationery company, we now have even more incentive to sit down and scribble out a letter to a pen pal or loved one.

Created by Karst Stone Paper, the line of eco-friendly notebooks contains paper that completely leaves trees and pollution out of the equation. The pages are also free of the bleaches and acids that are in traditional wood pulp paper. Instead, the stationery is created with recycled stone collected from the mining and construction industries that is crushed down into a powder and combined with a non-toxic binding agent—which can also be recycled.

Bonus: Because it’s made of stone, the notebooks are waterproof, tear resistant and not subject to bleed through (so you can get as crafty in that BuJo as you want!). The company boasts a manufacturing process that is partially solar powered and leaves a 60 percent smaller carbon footprint than traditional paper production methods.

Currently, the innovative notebooks ($26.95-$29.95) and pocket journals ($11.95) are available in five different colors, A5 and A6 sizes, and come with lined or blank pages with plans to expand the product line in the future. Karst Stone promises to plant a tree for every one purchased from their website.

Karst Stone also wants to inspire people with their eco-friendly mission. “Just like us, Karst products are for individuals looking to feel and express their creativity and productivity, their website reads. “Each notebook is a starting place to solve new problems, providing a blank page to do more and create more.”
