Last week, Lastpass, the popular web-based password manager which handles user names and passwords from a single user master password, had the tech world and subscribers in a tizzy about a possible security breach which was feared to have revealed sensitive material (upon inspection, the breach revealed itself to be minor). Users with "strong, non-dictionary based password or pass phrase" have been notified they're not in any danger, but as LastPass subscribers ourselves, this scare had us wondering if we needed an additional security measure for travel and "just in case" safety. The YubiKey might be the answer, a small USB key for secure strong two-factor authentication process, combating common ID theft issues, including phishing and key loggers with a single touch. And the best part, it's designed to work together with LastPass from the start, giving peace amongst us worry warts.
