how is a $1500 desk affordable?
That Vurv desk is not affordable but boy is it a gorgeous spot to pay your bills, keep the stamps at hand etc. Luckily (or unfortunately?), I have a spot for a "real" desk.
I'd say that while amazing at $720 the MASH Studios Wall Mounted Desk is not exactly affordable.
Affordable? Really?!?
Can you lean on these desks with impunity?
>mfw post title says affordable, post contains $1300 wooden briefcase
AT's writers must be making a killing...
I usually strike anything from 2modern off my list of potentially 'affordable' items. It's not a bad list at all, but I think you could find 10 floating desks for under $500. (The average price of a desk in this post is a somewhat stodgy $521).
The Ikea Ludwig is no longer available but as it happens, I bought an extra I don't need, and haven't bothered to list it on eBay yet. I'll be asking $30 plus shipping (retail was $40). I hope this isn't considered spam or anything. Please contact me via twitter (@AnnPettus) if you're interested, and we can talk.
What I have is the "laptop/charger station," not the modem box.
Garsh. You would think that things that save space would cost less than the things that do.
I made my own folding desk using some $17 folding shelf brackets, a piece of maple plywood from my local reuse store, and trim that I glued and nailed onto the plywood edges as well as underneath the front edge for strength. Building my own enabled me to get the exact dimensions needed to make the most out of my space. And, if this post is any evidence, was way cheaper than the alternatives.
Good on you for changing the title from affordable to space-saving...much more accurate.
Several years ago I saw an fabulous wall mounted desk that I cannot find anywhere. It was basically a mounted shadow box/ shelves with a desk surface that flipped down for use. The bottom of the desk could display artwork when flipped up, and the lip of the desk fit snugly under the shadow box to add extra stability to the desk surface. It is a very shallow desk.
Does this sound familiar to anyone? Any ideas where I could buy it?
KUDOS TO UNABRIDGED. I did the same. :oD
I've been tempted by this wall mounted desk: http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Murphy-Walnut-Fold-out-Convertible-Desk/4733628/product.html
I think it would do very well in an entryway. Fold it down and have a mail center, place to put keys and paperwork, etc. Fold it up and it looks pretty attractive. Put a small mirror and/or bit of art in the center of the folded up section and it would look even better!
I worry, though, about the weight of it on my walls (especially as I rent). My luck, I'd hang it and it would take down half of the wall with it. :)
Wow, that last circular desk gave me a decorgasm!
