Julia Child gave us fellow home cooks a lot of great ideas. The best one? The hack of hanging a pegboard in the kitchen. When it comes to organizing the kitchen, you’d be hard-pressed to find a better solution.

Mostly used in laundry rooms and garages, a pegboard actually makes perfect sense for the kitchen. Think about it: A pegboard can add storage space to a small kitchen that doesn’t have a ton of cabinets or drawers. A pegboard can go on a wall where a shelf or cabinet couldn’t (maybe a shelf would stick out too much?). A pegboard also costs way less than shelves or cabinets. Also, most rooms have walls!

And, in case you need another reason to love pegboards, here are eight. To help you see the many functions of a kitchen pegboard, we set up one basic pegboard (measuring either 2×2 or 2×4) eight different ways.

Just follow our simple directions (you do need a power drill, but we swear it really is easy to hang one of these!) and pick a theme. Wanna make a coffee station for you to visit every morning? Easy! Need to find a place to put all your baking stuff? Or all your pots and pans? A pegboard is your answer. One unifying theme will make the pegboard look stylish and put together. Yes, even if you just choose a bunch of (very) random kitchen gadgets. See for yourself.
