Designer:Kate Strickland of West Haddon Hall
Location: Los Angeles, California
Kate sent us images and info on a recent project: This Spanish style house with dramatic vaulted ceilings celebrates a delicious mix of styles in the interior, designed by Los Angeles-based firm West Haddon Hall. Filled with original Mid-Century Modern pieces in wood and neutral tones, it is enlivened with vibrant Moroccan rugs and Turkish pillows.
The space boasts chairs by Paul McCobb and Clifford Pascoe as well as an original George Nelson lamp. It's owner has a very eclectic mix of artwork, including street art, a Tim Burton watercolor, and an original Matisse. The guest room was a particular challenge due to its small size, but we were able to seamlessly mix in a bed from Ikea (!) that offers a private nook for reading or a bed for a guest. Overall a very inspiring space!

The paneled ceiling is so beautiful... is there a name for that other than "paneled"?
This is very pretty, but nothing new or particularly interesting.
California is over-represented on this site, and I find the design aesthetic featured in most of the California homes here to be similar. I'd appreciate seeing more homes in colder climates, especially those with outdoor spaces. Decorating for cold temperature is tricky sometimes, i.e. you can't just hang some pretty, sheer drapes over the windows.
What is the Make/Style/Brand of the two swanky rocking chairs in the living room please?
Really beautiful. The furniture and accessories are all very unique and interesting- I love that. I also love that furry blanket!
lovely. although i don't envy whoever has to vacuum that shaggy rug :o)
hi there, i'll take that bed please. with everything on it.
On man, I just read the "love your home the way it is" post, and then I go look at this - big mistake!
as someone that lives in a spanish style home and loves mid-century, this was a piece of eye candy. two questions, where did you get your living room rug from and those great kilim pillows on your bed?
well done!
Nice house, but I looked at all the pictures and I did not see 'Spanish' style anywhere. What is Spanish for you anyway? I am Spanish and I can tell that an average Spanish home doesn't look like that at all!
Montse, in California "Spanish" refers to anything vaguely Mexican, with arches, whitewash, metalwork etc.
A very inaccurate description, I agree!
But I do like this house.
NICE!!!I need to see more REAL APARTMENT Dwellings though...Like those smaller living temporary or long term rentals...in Toronto. I could only salivate that much...but reality can't even make me even dream about those grandiose or bigger than average "designer" styled homes, no matter how inspiring they were.
What is the manufacturer of the table and chairs?
sorry to see you bought the knock-off barstools from white/HDbuttercup, the original rian stool from semigood is (1) original and (2) designed to actually hold the cantilevered weight. make sure hefty friends sit at the dining table.
Beautiful. Love the cosy corner bed ~ thanks for the inspiration!!
