Name: Russell Brown, acupuncturist & owner of Poke Acupuncture, John Arsenault, fine art & commercial photographer & John Ruggiero, hair stylist
Location: Hollywood — Los Angeles, California
Size: 2,500 square feet — 4 bedrooms, 2½ baths
Years lived in: 6 months
You asked and we delivered. Russell Brown's Poke Acupuncture post intrigued a few readers who wanted an inside look into Russell's personal residence. As we suspected, the decor takes a hint from his office and also adds another level of eclectic and photographic intrigue. For anyone who enjoyed the non-family photos in the bathroom of Poke Acupuncture, the stairwell continues the theme with awkward prom photos and strange baby pictures.

Russell purchases family photos at local swap meets. The photos are scattered throughout the home and some are even framed, weird I know. They have even gone to the extent of starting to name the family members featured in the photos. They justify the eclectic mix of photography by pairing it with John Arsenault's Kathy's Beauty Nook photographs and his other fine art. Somehow it all comes together and works.
I am waiting for my invite for a house party, so I can spend even more time taking in the Annie display plates, the "meals we have eaten" photographs, and the other strange but cool accessories.

Apartment Therapy Survey:
Our Style: Our style is eclectic, comfortable, playful, and fun. Obviously when you have a set of Annie plates on the wall, you can't take yourself or your design too seriously.
Inspiration: The inspiration is our grandmothers' houses meets The Three Bears' house.
Favorite Element: Our favorite element is the use of photographs around the house. The "family" stairwell features awkward photos of strangers bought at the swap meet mixed with some truly embarrassing adolescent photos of ourselves and our good friends. Look closely and you may see your own prom picture up there! The kitchen features photographs of meals we've eaten together, mostly from a road trip we made from Upstate New York back here to LA last winter.
Biggest Challenge: The biggest challenge was combining three very different viewpoints on design, giving everyone a voice, and making sure each of us is comfortable.
What Friends Say: "Feels like home." We had a party and everyone just ran around like it was a funhouse. Since it is our home, we forget that it's a bit of a spectacle.
Biggest Embarrassment: None of us love the strange Moroccan mural in the bathroom — it is creepy. Unfortunately, it came with the house.
Proudest DIY: Our proudest DIY project was converting the dining room into a family room "salon." We realized that placing a big clunky table, that we'd only use every now and then, in the room would be a misuse of the space. Therefore, we moved the table into our great room and use the other room for a space to hang out off the kitchen and away from the TV.
Biggest Indulgence: The biggest indulgence is framing the artwork. The framing isn't cheap, but it is probably the biggest bang for our buck in our great room.
Best advice: Our friend Daniel asked us to really think about how each piece of furniture makes us feel. Sometimes even pretty things have a sad quality to them. We really don't like a lot of sad pieces.

The house is fantastic, but these have to be three of the coolest looking guys I have seen in a while. 9/10 for the house the guys are all 10's
So many awesome rooms but my favorite's are John Ruggiero's bedroom and bathroom. Do the doors open up to a patio or terrace in the bedroom? Love your house and thanks for the tour!
I don't have a mustache OR tattoos. Additionally, I'm a chick. Can I move in?
I love how the house manages to feel kitschy and a whole lot of fun, while also being decidedly grown up and stylish. I feel like most house tours here are either one or the other.
"The Three Bears' house" ;o)
wow--impressive space by guys who are smart, hip, creative, funny, & interesting. as a guy i sadly have to admit such guys aren't as common as they should be but i guess this can be said of women too. anyway, great space & i love that first fantasy photo as well as those on JA's site.
This is awesome! So creative and homey and beautiful.
over-processed and cluttered
Yeah, definitely "The Three Bears"! ; )
Hawt! Hawt! Hawt! I like their home too.
They did a great job melding its a very creative and fun home.
These are the skinniest bears I know ;).
Picture #13 is beautiful, love the mirror. The architectural vaulted ceiling and arch ways are fantastic.
Glad they are having fun. Nice tour.
agree with 'i love upstate'. i do have tattoos, but not a moustache. i'm fairly certain i can don a moustache if it's a requirement though.
and john's bedroom is amazing. the mirrored wall and the vintage sofa are my favorite!
It's not my taste but I love it. The whole place has a funky upscale kind of late 70's look to it. Even the three men have a kind of 70's "Tom of Finland" vibe to them. Thanks for the courtesy of letting us see your place.
@ Haruki - your kidding, right?
Um, WOOF.
Amazing house! A little too much on the walls for my taste. Some pretty interesting items. The layout of the house is great! I'd like to see what the outside looks like. Thanks for letting us in to your creative world!
My boyfriend and I second the "woof" comment. Oh, the house is pretty amazing too.
@kahlil19107, I'm pretty sure Haruki was serious.
o_O
O_o
@Haruki, honey, you need to get out more.
Great place. Handsome tattooed love boys. Two thumbs up.
You forgot to mention the 4th resident: Consuella, the poor cleaning woman who has to dust all of this stuff and consequently hasn't had a day off since April.
The mirrored bedroom wall is amazing, and there are a lot of lovely things here, but cumulatively there's so much that's arch, crass, kitsch, camp and ironic that I wonder if there's room for anything of genuine warmth and heart. Even the family photos are chosen for their "OMG WTF!" value rather than their sentimental meaning.
@Blandwagon, your comment had me in splits...HAHa..i enjoyed your comment more than the tour....Consuella..how funny is that...
Great house, but my enjoyment of the tour was marred by a big old Dove Soap pop-up with an endless loop of daft pseudo-feminist advertising that actually overlapped the text of the house tour. It had no "close" button that I could find. Annoying. Now I really, really hate Dove Soap.
I would love to know the name of the paint color in John Ruggiero's bedroom.
i'm naturally inclined to acquiesce with the majority of the comments.. but as they have a collection of As and none of their names begin with the letter.. and mine does.. i feel as though i am welcome in their home. (is that reaching?) regardless. A+
I second thorndale, thumbs down to blandwagon's "Consuelo" joke. super tacky.
Now to the matter in question. The guys are cute, for sure. But I'm kinda dying to know: Three guys; three perfectly appointed bedrooms. Is this how to make a threesome work? Or are we to believe that they all date outsiders?
Not that it is any of our business. Ha!
What I love about their place is that it is full of collections and oddities without being tawdry and cluttered. In fact it seems very clean and tidy despite all the stuff that they seem to have. Also, I love the color palette in John R's room- greys paired with a blue sofa, very nice.
The one in the front is obviously just back from a heist...
This is neither an "apartment" nor is it in need of any "therapy".
It is definitely over-processed.
Haruki wins a prize for the most adorably naive comment I have ever read.
@ Haruki - You remind me of my mom! :)
Great to see such inspirational walls!
"You forgot to mention the 4th resident: Consuella, the poor cleaning woman who has to dust all of this stuff and consequently hasn't had a day off since April."
If the name is changed to "Helga" is it less offensive? But considering the gentlemen live in LA, choosing an Hispanic name was probably more accurate.
I didn't take Blandwagon's statement as joke, but rather as a comment on what it takes to keep a home with that much stuff presentable. I know I couldn't have so many items on my walls/tabletops/floors without some serious help in keeping it clean.
That's why, whenever AT chooses a home with a "lived-in" look, I am turned off. It's not a look I can accomplish, so the details don't interest me all that much.
they remind me of the
village people
This may be a total non-sequitor, but I am dying to know if these men are a family unit of some kind. Such decoration is not normal for single, straight guys (or even single gay guys). It's too cohesive for them to be roommates. Roommate situations are too transient for great decorating. It says "alternative family unit of some kind to me." That's cool, of course, but it certainly piqued my interest.
YMCA! Delightful home.
I want Mr. Ford t-shirt to be my boyfriend.
"You forgot to mention the 4th resident: Consuella, the poor cleaning woman who has to dust all of this stuff and consequently hasn't had a day off since April."
Forget Consuela! Tell me where to download the "Houseboy" application and she can take a whole month off !
So playful- I love it.
Cliche.
gorgeous men and gorgeous house!
Pool blue chair with pool photo = genius.
I'd be lying if I didn't say the whole installation has me scratching my head a little bit lol!!
nice guys; nice house; too much of everything; but I love it......
What will the house will be in a couple of years; restyled or more of the funny stuff......
The house is nice but definitely not my style. I am impressed by their very clever use of mirrors.
@ chesterandtrudy - the moment I saw the pic, I started humming YMCA. I was just too chicken to type it. I think it's the mustaches. They look like fun & creative guys who would be great to know.
I'm loving the pipe lamp, the suspended window, the ceiling and the old doors used to hang art. It's a beautiful space crammed full of personality. So much inspiration! Thanks for the tour.
Fantastic - its so full of colour - Definitely not a boring house tour!!
And I just LOVE the patio off the bedroom!!
I couldn't live here, as I am a minimalist and abhor clutter....but it's a great spectacle. I'd visit often though. Yes, quite often.
Oh mah gawd.. forget the house, those guys are HAWT! I wanna live next door or across the street from them! Thanks for the fantasy AT!
i like the use of the silk screening screen as art.
Love it, and I'm an old lady. When I lived in a duplex, 3 bedroom apartment, I, too, needed lots of art, pictures, etc. on the staircase walls, as well as everywhere else. I don't bother with the "masculine/feminine tastes"; if it works, it works. It's whimsical, sophisticated, a little crazy! Just my style and type.
dayum. one of each please
I'm loving this house tour as well! I enjoy how the common areas are almost over-the-top and then the bedrooms are so simply decorated.
@ bella- I agree. This is not a boring house!
WOW... So much to say here.... Not enough time to say it (darn my pesky job).
First, Major woofyness going on... Damn... Congrats to the guys for putting together such a manly place while retaining so much style. And style is everywhere here... not always mine, but I can see it, and know there is a lot of thought and careful curating happening here. Fantastic!
Simply the best yet! What interesting and gorgeous men. More information !!
You all can fight for the other two but Mr. Ford is mine. Great house too.
This house tour is manly as hell.
Somebody give a hand to the grand old dame with the excellent bone structure who, silently and non-intrusively offers a backdrop to all this fun - the house itself - there you go, a good round of applause for older Hollywood homes, and a Yay for LA. Personally I like the short-sleeved buttondown moustache because he reminds me of another erstwhile god, Freddie Mercury.
But for all of you who think that shaming @Haruki for his or her naivete is cool, it isn't. Instead of cracking jokes, either explain what you mean or don't post. No need to make someone you likely don't even know feel bad.
Anyway, super fun. I'd hang out in a heartbeat. Wanted to see more exteriors.
I'll be darned, the last thing I was expecting to see in the home of these three working-class tough guys was fresh cut flowers! That'll teach me to stereotype!
Are two of these dudes in this Blackberry ad? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tj3WnSLnOKQ&feature=youtube_gdata_player
WOW, all those pretty flowers in one house. How do you maintain this? Which one of you is in charge of weekly flower purchases? I would love to be your neighbor, you seem so fun and crazy.
Two words. DON'T MOVE! It would take a thousand boxes to pack.
Seriously, I love it. It is gorgeous. I would be the party guest looking at everything. It is just outstanding. How one can have that much stuff and be organized and not cluttered is beyond me, but they did it.
Wow, the use of color in this house is amaaaazing. And how sumptuous and fun at the same time can a house get?
Why can't I get my boyfriend to dress like these guys? It's not fair.
Kins - Maybe your boyfriend isn't a living cliche' who wants to look like a gay porn video come to life? Just a guess.
i like the kind of chubby one
This house is my dream.
But I am soooooo glad I don't have to dust it.
Oh, and to Haruki's defense - (and here I go supposing that with a name like Haruki, he or she is, I don't know, let's say Japanese), men in other countries can be a little more in touch with the femme and not be gay. True, these three bears are only missing their Goldilocks to complete the cliche (maybe she does the dusting), but their decorating sense doesn't necessarily = gay in other countries as it does in ours.
Cut Haruki some slack for not making assumptions based on appearances and stereotypes (even if they are correct, and even though I did exactly that at the start of my comment - I didn't say I was any better. . . . )
WOW, love the colours, love the clutter....my sort of house. Does Goldilocks do the dusting?
http://designstyleblog.blogspot.com
Thorndale - Apparently my sarcasm didn't register.
Amazing house you guys!! Its probably my favorite house tour ever!! Great job!!
Wow...some really "mean" AT readers!
Seeing peoples house on a house tour does not mean you go around judging/ commenting about them. Can't you people just enjoy design without making snide personal remarks/comments???
I dunno, I think when people post blatantly obnoxious pictures of *themselves* rather than just photos of their home, it's all fair game. Remember that entry in the Small Cool contest where somebody, in the photo of his bathroom, showed his attractive girlfriend sitting on the toilet? Got raked over the coals, as well he should have.
First of all hot home, hot men, hot acupuncture office. The snarky comments are envy speaking, I ignore them. I love Mr Brown, Mr. Arsenault, and Mr Ruggiero's decor and their attitude, and the men themselves are damn fine to behold too. Thank you for inspiring me gentlemen. If I lived in LA I'd be a regular client at Poke. As it is I've got ApartmentTherapy and PokeAcupuncture to stimulate me and inspire me. Hats off all the way around.
PS Why don't THESE guys have a "reality" show. Now THAT I'd watch!
could you pack any more personality into that house? nicely done, however John R. might want to rethink that shelf on the wall above his bed....bad placement....he sleeps with something hanging over his head. A feng shui metaphor that bears consideration, just a thought.
Love it! If the house is anything to go by, these guys would be seriously fun to hang out with.
I love the quirkiness. There's so much depth & creativity.
Hmmm... Guys who's house rocks, & are total cuties - HEAVEN!!!!
Hmm... is that what John R. claims as a day job. I do love Haruki's naive comment. It was priceless.
Paging Dr. Finger!
Johnny Gun! The Pornstars of Interior Design! I love this about Los Angeles.
These guys are rocking it, looks-wise (!!!) and design-wise. They appear to have collected a lifetime's worth of home accessories and art. As one who has a hard time committing to bringing knick-knacks into my own home for fear of cluttering the space, I applaud their ability to bring all these items in and make it feel cohesive.
Close-ups of book libraries always drive me crazy (photo 23), because I try to read the title of every book! Plus they always reveal some of the personality of the dweller.
John Ruggiero's bedroom is my favorite because of the charcoal wall color -- masculine as all get-out!
amazing! ceilings and all-
I actually read all the comments on this house tour--thank you lovely AT people!
I just can't believe they've only lived in that house for 6 months...
Super sexy abode.
At first I read the title of the article as, "Three Men and a Home Filled with Pornography." My Freudian slip is showing....
