This kitchen required a lot of painting. While there weren't any costly changes from ripping things out or putting in new permanent surfaces the paint changes were pretty substantial as the homeowner describes:
I couldn't be happier with how it all turned out. And although the results look dramatic, it's all cosmetic changes, I like to paint, but I hired some help to keep it from taking a month to finish. I painted while he painted. Then I painted at night. And early in the morning. And in my dreams. Between the two of us, we painted nearly every surface in this kitchen.....two or three times, including the walls, the ceiling, all the trim , and all the cabinets.
While a lot of time and paint went into this kitchen you have to admit the change is dramatic and has a minimal environmental impact compared to a completely remodel.
I love the way this turned out!

Beautiful!
Love it! I may have to try something similar.
It was a very nice kitchen to start with. All it needed was removing all the clutter, starting with that hive of pots and pans overhead.
LOVE LOVE LOVE!!
The after rocks! I can appreciate the leap-of-faith it must taken to change the cabinets in such a dramatic way.
Love it! So much brighter and happier now.
I love the cabinet color! I wish I could convince my husband to do this, but he's too masculine in his design tastes.
Love that kitchen!
I gasped! Really well done.
I agree with KittyAtlanta. There is just way too much stuff on the counters and overhead. I also don't like the open cabinets. Due to space limitations I have narrow open pantry shelving in my tiny kitchen. I constantly have to dust and arrange my goods so they aren't messy. I can't imaging having glasses etc out in the open to keep clean and dust free. Especially things that aren't used frequently. That being said, the colors are beautiful and the paint is a huge transformation.
Awesome! Here are some thoughts on kitchen renovation and tradition.

What a fantastic set of colors you chose! Love how the turquoise compliments the floor and makes it look nicer. Great job!
All those pots hanging on the rack in the "before" picture makes me nervous. I hope they took at least a few of them down.
I love the 2-tone cabinet look, but the key seems to be having the bottom cabinets be a darker color than the top cabinets, otherwise it looks like you're walking on the ceiling.
Oh, adorable! And, great legs!
