Because she couldn't choose between green and white for cabinetry, she went with both, and I love how clean and fresh it looks, especially with the butcher-block island and the antique candy maker's cabinet with its fabulous patina. The only thing I'm not crazy about is the curtains that graze the countertop, but other than that, this could be my dream kitchen.
Click through to Hooked on Houses to see Dorie's entire remodel, which included a painstaking restoration of the bungalow's exterior to its original state, replete with wraparound porch. There's also a lovely bathroom remodel and a very cute craft room.
Great work Dorie!

White Enamel Four-P...
I am consumed with jealousy, at the whole house. Very good job!
Great work! Very inspiring :)
What a fantastic re-do. Very, very nicely executed. I like the style, but also the functionality of the space, after. Congratulations!
I absolutely love this kitchen. Well done. The rest of the house remodel
is charming too.
Very, very nice! Perfect amount of retro-ness (is that a word?).
I'm so in love with cup pulls these days.
Not a fan of the green and white cabinets, but it's not my kitchen. The design and execution is spot on. It looks like an awesome workspace and easy to cook in.
I'm really impressed someone found a way to make that pottery barn chandelier look gorgeous. I thought the mason jar fixture was sort of goofy, but it totally works!
I wonder whose genius idea it was to float the original kitchen in the centre of the room? It's so impractical that it defies belief.
The new kitchen, on the other hand, is charming. It's spacious and practical, in keeping with the age of the house, and I like the fact that Dorie has gone for an interesting colour rather than something "safe".
It's like an Ina Garten kitchen. Love it.
It's amazing! My ideal kitchen! Thanks for the inspiration!
Wow, night and day! I agree about the curtains. But otherwise, just amazing. I wouldn't believe it's the same house.
Lovely! Great job!
Wow, it looks brighter, even though it appears you removed a window. Amazing!
The after is just warm and lovely.
the original kitchen was just so so strange... it needed a complete renovation --I can't imagine fixing it without this total transformation.
This is totally a case of never choosing this style on my own, but if I walked into a house with this kitchen I would swoon.
Very homey and inviting!!!
Weird... the curtains are not there in the last picture. :\
I'm just thinking, the previous owners may have moved the cabinets from their old, small kitchen and dropped them in this room. Why? Who knows. I'm also hoping that they had some sort of refrigeration that was installed under the floating counter. Can you see any other space that a refrigerator could be placed?
All kidding aside, this is a wonderful remodel. The use of space is perfect. I love the colors. Love the way they got rid of the side window and used that space for the stove and cabinets. And opening up the space with the new windows above the sink is an incredible improvement visually and also lets so much more light in. Nice job.
I love the two tone kitchen! Beautiful work!
I'm just so perplexed by the fact that the previous owners didn't have the counters against the wall in the Before.... I mean, I get some of the why of it. It's a 1916 house and wouldn't have had built-in cabinets originally. But it makes me think that the previous owners did a remodel using a tear-out from another home that they picked up on Craig's List or from a Habit for Humanity ReStore outlet.
Oh and the After is gorgeous. I'm seriously impressed by the design work that went into the whole thing since windows were enlarged and removed among other things.
When I clicked on the first "after" photo, I thought I was looking at my parent's kitchen! I love it so much and this is so well done. After going through it with my mom, I totally understand how much painstaking thought goes into where every. single. drawer. goes. It's job done beautifully. Congratulations.
