Michele's son had outgrown his room's decor, and everyone was sick of the orange, purple and red color scheme. It took a couple of weeks to re-do it completely, using a lot of what they already owned, plus adding a few new things to the mix. The goal was to keep it affordable and simple.

This room might win the award for the most handmade things in one space. Michele, along with various members of her family, made or refurbished all of the following: quilt, sun wall hanging, denim pouf, desk, shelf brackets, fish tank stand, window shade, pillows, chair cushion, model rockets, and dresser.
Bravo Michele! You put the rest of us to shame. Readers, there is more to explore on Michele's blog, Michele Made Me, including tutorials and more photos of the finished room.

Nomade Express Slee...
Fantastic quilt. This room in its homemade loving vibe is so down to earth, real, sincere and fun.
Is that washi tape on the wall or something else? Great!
Does he truly use the typingwriter (my eldest niece called it that when she was little) or is it purey for show?
The before was stuck in the 70's (?) and the after it truly breathtaking. Well done.
wow the before makes my teeth hurt. the current set up is beautiful AND can be used as a guest craft room when he moves out without redecorating.
Oh my, soooo much better. I am also curious as to what the stripes on the wall are.
I would've been sick of that purple, red and yellow scheme from Day 1.
I always love to see a kids' room for a human being, not a blue boy or pink girl :)
I LOVE it! Cheerful and bright, and he can add and subtract his own details as his interests change! Beautiful!
Ha! My first thought about the stripes on the wall was if it was washi tapes as well. Love this after--so simple and homey. Well done!
Wow. Really bright and nice. That quilt is beautiful. Big improvement.
