Like many of us, Weiya was searching for an affordable solution for her storage woes, searching for a piece which could work as a landing strip for her personal belongings (keys, diaper bag, etc), while also provide additional storage underneath, and surface area for her laptop. She found her solution at IKEA, but decided to take the $30 changing table another level with some DIY customization...

Originally looking for a small storage solution for my diaper bag and keys (because our house lacks a mudroom or entry space), my husband and I ended up coming home with this Sniglar changing table! With the help of some paint, cute shelf-liners, fabric containers, and wood, I transformed this simple piece into a small laptop workspace for our bedroom - complete with a spot for my diaper bag and keys!
The finished project looks fantastic and it appears Weiya could further customize the setup by elevating it further into a standing desk if desired (although, considering mothers deserving every opportunity to relax, perhaps finding an adjustable height task chair is the better solution).

Ercol Bar Stool
but ... how do you do with your legs?
Looks good, but impractical for any serious computer use. If it had a top that folded down to use as laptop tray.
I don't understand this. It looks a computer desk for someone who doesn't want to enjoy the computer. No place to put your legs + chair that is too deep and the wrong height.
I would use a stool instead of the chair but, the overall effect looks nice : ]
I like the idea as a place to set my laptop to charge or live and great for organization in general.
First of all, thanks so much Apartment Therapy for featuring my DIY! :) To the rest of the commenters, I totally appreciate your questions and comments. I definitely am aware that this table is too high... which is why I had mentioned in my blog that I may need to cut the legs down or get a higher chair. This is by no means my permanent desk that I will be spending hours in, but more so a temporary workspace for those 5 minute email checks or just a space to relax and sit at :) The chair that I have in the picture was just one that I already had...not one that I will be permanently using for that space.
Hope that helps to answer some of the questions. If you have any other questions, please feel free to email me at enjoyerofgrace@gmail.com.
For 30 dollars, this is a great idea for any room. Storage underneath with just the shelves or the perfect 'hiding' baskets..a nice flat top to use as needed for anything..It was also remade so cutely!
I bought one of these tables for $10 in Ikeas clearance section. It's made a fantastic potting/garden station in my basement mud room. I love seeing the different uses people come up with for things. Yours is way cuter than mine :)
This looks great! We have this table, but are close to being done with it as a change table and I vaguely had a thought about using it as a plant stand but I think I like this idea is better. Thanks for the inspiration!
I want to put hinges on the top and make a secret storage and flip the top over to make room for legs. LOVE this.
I would have never thought of transforming this changing table, but now I have all sorts of ideas! While we don't need a computer desk, I love ddcute's idea of a potting table.
I use my ikea changing table to silkscreen on. Perfect height, just built a board I can take on and off and it stores my paints underneath. Those changing tables have many lives, glad to see how you used yours.
Nice repurposing, i love the baskets to hide your stuff. I think it's fine to use a computer for short periods without being able to tuck your legs under, a seat is a seat!
But...are you allowed to have pictures on AT if you have a PC? I cannot think when I have seen a post with a PC laptop :)
