Krista and her husband bid and lost out on five homes before they finally purchased this one. With a kitchen that had “grandma wallpaper,” sad tile floor, and odd painted aluminum cabinetry, this couple kept their spirits up after purchasing by daydreaming about a remodel. But, they’d have to do it on a tight budget.

The changes to this kitchen were simple, but the outcome quite a step up from the older, dated space. The result is a clean, fresh space that’s a lot more enjoyable to be in.

From Krista:

First things first, my husband ripped down all cabinets and we sold the appliances on craigslist. He rented a jackhammer and went to work taking out the floor tile. Together with his father they worked tirelessly to add overhead lighting, move appliance locations and rework plumbing.

After weekends browsing through Pinterest mood boards, we landed on stainless steel appliances with white shaker cabinetry. Ordering our cabinets from Home Depot and appliances from PC Richards we kept costs reasonable (both offer 24 month, interest-free financing!). Then we matched quartz counter tops, a white subway tile back splash and a large stainless farm sink to modernize our small space. So in about a month and a half, voila! Not only have we increased space efficiently we’ve created a room to love.

Thank you Krista!
