Titia was out running errands when she decided to swing by one of her favorite junk stores. While wending her way through back streets, she came upon a treasure trove of furniture just being discarded, and hopped out to look. Her luck held when she found two pieces she knew she could work with — and when a passerby offered to help her load them into her car!

Even before she began stripping off that terrible brown paint, Titia was certain she had found a very special piece. Solid wood, no veneer, beautiful grain — Titia knew almost immediately that this dresser would be getting refinished and not repainted. Some new knobs (that she picked up the same day she found the dresser) and some walnut stain, and Titia had turned this discarded dresser into a true treasure.

Nomade Express Slee...
I'm pretty sure the after picture doesn't do it justice. Very nice!
WOW WEE. Another save from the landfill. BEAUTIFULLY DONE!!
Gorg. I wish I could find pieces like this where I live. Thrift stores here are usually overpriced and laminate!
Congratulations - well done and beautifully understated.
This is an awesome before and after! Great stain too!
The grain on the solid wood makes this a standout! Nice choice on the knobs, too :)
Nice, although I agree, hoping and betting it does look far better in person; maybe it's the knob choice that doesn't win me over. Still, a good useful save.
Looks great! Who would paint it brown in the first place? The wood is lovely.
I don't understand when I see something painted brown...is wood not brown in the first place? Why paint it a weird wood putty brown?
Looks Beautiful! Good save.
@Pi, I think that same thing every time I see a kitchen with brown painted cabinets. WHY???
GORGEOUS!
What a find! It's hard to tell from the photo, but that may be mahogany.
Excellent job refinishing, too.
Just beautiful!
What a great job! Paint removal is hell so that took a lot of hard work.
FANTASTIC. Thank you for seeing this piece's true potential.
Dear God, it is beautiful!
It looks incredible... it also looks like an incredible amount of work. Kudos!
Stunning. Thanks for saving it and sharing!
Wow. That looks gorgeous and expensive. What a great eye - I would have taken one look at that dresser and kept walking!
Bravo!
Looks good.....looking for a dresser myself to redo. Thanks for sharing.
Love! Understated and much improved. Well done!
Lovely!
Wow. Excellent! Love the stain and knobs.
WHOA!
wow. I didn't see that coming. It was a clunker, and now it's so dainty and lovely.
Thank you all for the lovely comments :) I was so happy it turned out the way it did and it is now in it's new home :)
Thanks for not paint it white!!
Looks really nice!
What a beautiful makeover! I love the knobs.
Your hard work shows...just beautiful!
Gorgeous results!
I believe this is the poster child for people who cry foul when someone paints a good piece of wooden furniture. Why would you cover up that gorgeous wood with paint? Especially the sloppy ugly brown paint that some weirdo used?
Excellent work. Great eye for even figuring this could be rescued. I'd have kept walking...
I like the new drawer pulls, they suit it well, I think.
GORGEOUS!
