For some people, a totally blank slate of a room is just plain intimidating. For Jolie, it’s a joy. See how she built a lovely little nursery in a room that was in need of some serious charm.

From Jolie: When my sister-in-law and I first started off on this renovation journey, I don’t think we realized what we were getting ourselves into! To get the room to a state that we both agreed was acceptable, we first had to peel off 5 layers of wallpaper, apply joint-compound twice and sand for hours. We then installed new laminate flooring, baseboards and had the electrical outlets replaced. It was an absolute pleasure to decorate once all that was over.

My sister-in-law has always loved owls, so I decided to give her a woodland themed nursery filled with little woodland creatures and soothing colors. All of the decorations and furniture came in under $500. I kept an eye out for good deals and second-hand furniture, and also crafted a few things along the way. Oh, and don’t worry, the pine cones are just for decoration, they won’t be anywhere near the crib once the baby is born 🙂
