Our good friends, Laura & Keith, recently bought a 2+ bedroom condo in South Boston and are three months into a major remodel. This narrow non-bedroom was acting as wood shop / organizational center for materials as the couple built new subfloors, installed new hardwood and trimwork, rebuilt a few walls and the stairs, remodeled the bathroom, and generally made their new home sound. Now that most of the serious power tool work is done, this narrow space can finally serve its intended function as the home office for a graphic designer and architecture grad student. Last year, we wrote about the installation of Sol LeWitt’s wall paintings at Mass MoCA in the Berkshire mountains of northern Massachusetts (a fantastic vacation spot, by the way) and recently we got a chance to see them in person. Much attention has focused on LeWitt’s newer, bold, graphic works, but we were especially impressed by the subtle effects of his earlier monochromatic pieces and line drawings. Many seem like simple fields of gray at first glance, but up-close they reveal intricate textures, patterns and sometimes a multitude of colors...
I bought this dresser on Craigs List, and I'm wondering how to finish it. The previous owner said it needs either a paint touch up or a new paint job, and I think I'd like to go for the latter. Our bedroom furniture is dark wood and our accent colors are mustard yellow (we're moving to a new house and are still discussing wall colors). Any tips? Thanks! Alex

Like many a great craigslist purchase, it was quite an adventure picking up this 80s faux marble Roche Bobois coffee table. After some white-knuckle driving through the Hollywood Hills and catching a glimpse of the actress whose assistant was selling it for her, the table was ours. But, like many relationships that start out on a note of excitement, our affection for the table is starting to sour (hello, faux marble?!). Now that we’ve dragged it to New England, we’re dying to get something a lot more modern going on in our living room. We’re wondering if there is a way to update the table to make that happen — or is it just time to let it go?
Hi Apartment Therapy, I just moved into a new 1 BR apartment in Cambridge, MA from a cramped Manhattan studio. With the bigger space, comes more windows and I was looking for these sheer white curtains with an organic branch-like pattern I purchased in Ikea a while back to further decorate my additional windows. It seems like these curtains are discontinued so I was wondering if anyone knows the name, where I can purchase discontinued ikea items or even know of a similar curtain with this pattern, I would be totally grateful!
