Interior design is not my job, it's my passion and it is in my blood. I grew up with a father who kick started and fueled my love for beautifully cool spaces... And now, well, he's the proud Dad of a girl who likes to move every year so she can change-up her " look".
As a Creative Director in an L.A. brand experience agency, I get the opportunity to play in the environmental design world on a daily basis, but my true personal expression comes out in my personal space.
I live in a very, I mean VERY small space and have managed to bring in everything that I wanted into it without making it feel cluttered. I'd say my vibe is modern vintage. I am big on the blending of modern furniture with vintage and less calculated offsets.
Thanks, Cara!

REALLY like those red cabinets but maybe painting the wall a different color. (?)
My concern with that chaulk board as a headboard is the dust once you erase it all. But I'm asthmatic so anything with dust worries me.
Over all, very nice.
I guess I'm really behind the times. I have no idea what a "brand experience agency" is. That's a super stylish apartment, though. The red kitchen cabinets are yummy.
Wouldn't chalkboard dust get all over the bed?
I love the Wooly Pocket!! Your space is so gorgeous. My only criticism is that the chalkboard wall doesn't quite seem to fit the rest of the airy aesthetic. In these photos it comes across as a little teenager-y, especially in such an elegent place!
I love this apartment, but would like to see a floor plan! I'd also like to know where she found the red cabinets, which I love!
Awesome red cabinets - like the majority of the comments have already pointed out. I would disagree with the "VERY small space" comment though.
I love your space...especially all the greenery. You have a lovely touch.
( I just purchased that same dragonfly hook for my kitchen. Makes me smile everytime I see it. )
Is "brand experience agency" just a new way of saying advertising?
Love the coffee table(s)! Source please??
Like & envy the red cupboards. The chalk board; works best with one who has some artistic writing/drawing skills. Those who don't (myself); it'd look like crap. Doubt if it's completely changed very often & a damp sponge would take care of the dust. The place looks nice, interesting & NOT all that small!
I just left a comment on another post mentioning how people don't understand what I do as a graphic designer, so these brand experience comments are cracking me up.
So to answer the questions: when you think of any company's products or services, there's a brand message they want you to think of -- to feel -- along with it. For one brand, the message might be that they're classic, easy-going, and inclusive, but another brand might want to be thought of as cutting edge, dynamic, and elite. To communicate these messages, everything has to be in synch: product design, packaging, logo design, logo implementation, the tone and phrasing of the copy, color palettes, photo styling, sub-brands...
So a branding agency is not the same thing as an ad agency, though they can be combined. Branding does research and design work to come up with the brand message and makes rules for the brand to make sure everything on the above list supports the message, whereas advertising will pitch ideas that fit into the brand's existing rules and then follow through with things that are specific to the campaign like writing tag lines, casting, location scouting, photo shoots, etc.
But, back to the post: I'm the leader of the chalk-is-messy bandwagon, but otherwise I love how livable this home looks. I feel like people usually hide things like slippers and phones in decor photos, so I like that you've shown that hey, this is where my phone sits :)
What's the source for the rustic-looking console table in the foyer? I'm looking for something exactly like that for my new apartment!
The chalk board doesn't bother me so much. Great place to wake up and immediately write down your dreams and inspiration and then think about it for a long time. When it's in a journal you aren't really going to see it unless you go back and look.
I think the console tables many have referenced here can be found at World Market and Pottery barn. The one I'm thinking of is called the Aiden. Don't poo poo World Market. They've got a lot of nice rustic/anthro looking furniture at bargain pricing. Great value and ease in shopping with them.

p.s. World Market is also a great source for small spaces as their couches run on the petite side.
Sorry...I mean Restoration Hardware in the above comment. Not Pottery Barn.
Here is a tutorial on making those industrial rustic shelves yourself. But for the additional $100, I'd go the WM way unless you know you're a good DIY. The metal bracket aspect of this project makes me nervous.

World Market has great industrial wire baskets for that shelf, but if you're looking for something more robust, I think these wire baskets from Arhaus are a good bargain. Gym locker baskets on Etsy are going for around $70 bucks or more usually, so these seem a good deal at $49.

Glad you like the space! Here's a link to the agency, if you're curious, might better help to explain:) http://www.jackmorton.com/
Coffe "Bunching" Tables: PARC MODERN http://www.parcmodern.com/

Thanks! Has anyone seen similar coffee tables around? I would kill for those....can't find them on Parc Modern : (
I love the headboard, where can I purchase it?
if you shoot an email to David@Parcmodern.com they can order those bunching tables for you or direct you to where you might be able to find them!
By headboard I am assuming you mean the bedframe with attached side tables? If so, it's actually Ikea's Malm set http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S19889512/
Thanks so much!
Great inspirations, but I don't like the headboard design.
I hate to be rude, but I'm going to go for it anyway. How is this space possibly considered to be "very small"?
The space is 500sq feet. By LA standards that is extremely small. The photography makes the space feel much more open than it is. For example, all appliances including fridge, dishwasher etc are much smaller than an average appliance. I believe it is a perspective issue.
Well, there is some serious camera trickery going on if this place is 500 square feet! Either that or your ability to design really opens it up. Regardless, well done.
Would you mind telling me where you got the sofa? Or the name if there is one?
Never mind, I think i just found it!
The Sofa is "the Playa" from http://www.parcmodern.com/products/sofas-sectionals/ :)
Love the chalkboard idea!
What a great space! Love the sofa, plants, and vases especially.
I agree. It is hard to believe this space is only 500 square feet. Even with smaller appliances. The rest of the furniture appears to be "regular" size and there's quite a few pieces to place in 500 square feet.
The apartment is lovely and quite feminine. I am attracted to those red cabinets and would like to have something similar. But I have heard that very bright colors are harmful to eyesight in small spaces. Have you encountered this problem?
Thanks
