In this mass produced world there's an easy disconnect between products and the people who make them. Part of the fun of seeking out unique items to decorate our homes is meeting the people and learning the stories behind them. People like Andrea Mihalik, the former photojournalist-turned-furniture-rehabber. More
A place for everything and everything in its place. Your mantra, or your aspiration? Either way, I love each and every one of these storage options for kids' rooms. The light warm wood with icy spots of color on each is lovely, but not too serious. (The silly faces on those storage boxes don't hurt either.)

The molded plastic rocker, whether the authentic Eames variety or one of the many replicas, is a definite design classic. Originally designed by Charles and Ray Eames in 1948, we still see these stylish rockers in a lot of house tours and kids rooms today. In most home settings, a small file cabinet is enough to contain important documents so there's no need for one of those tall, multi-drawer cabinets. Most (if not all) of the small cabinets on this list should be low enough to fit under a desk but you could also use one as a side table if you're lacking space. More

Designed by Eero Aarnio in 1966, the ball chair looks as futuristic today as it did 40+ years ago. Sitting in one is like escaping into a room within a room, especially if you choose one of the models with integrated speakers. While you can keep your eye out for a vintage model, we've rounded up five sources for new ball chairs — both original and reproduction. More

Years lived in: 5 years
"Just one more project before it's finished"… I had to wait a bit to see the final reveal of Annie and Pierson's home. Annie had been working day and night to finish things up, touching up paint, installing wallpaper, and going over every detail in the house. The design of your own home can be very personal, and I think everyone can relate to the feeling of never being quite finished.
