One of my favorite things about the warmer weather in Southern California is being able to enjoy movies outdoors. Fortunately in LA, there are a lot of outdoor screenings in public parks, museums, and unusual settings like Hollywood Forever Cemetery. But if you're more about entertaining at home, and have the space, there are a plentitude of options for creating an outdoor movie screening setup...

My backyard is the size of a postage stamp, and filled with dog poop and sorrow. Redoing it, however, is for another day. I'll get there at some point, and will then be all over these DIY outdoor tables. Last weekend marked Boston's first SoWa Open Market of the season: the outdoor marketplace was packed as artists and makers of all types set up tents to display their wares. Though gorgeous sunshine may have discouraged people from visiting the adjacent artists' lofts open for the neighborhood's Art Walk, I made sure to stroll through, and left feeling inspired by their creative spaces.
