I really like this cheerful home. It reminds me that, although there is some chatter about mid-century furniture having become ubiquitous or cliche, we can be grateful that these are perhaps new classics that bring charm and good design to many homes. I can't get enough of the George Nelson lamps, mostly because they give terrific glows to a room! Danish furniture is simple, attractive, and allows personal objects which fill them to shine.

The prints above the China cabinet and my daughter's bed were done by living legend, David Weidman in the 1950s and 60s. He's a true inspiration. You can find prints and posters here: http://www.weidmansart.com/index.html.
Not sure about the Eiffel chairs... I looked on Modernica's site and neither Chiffon or Celery looked like the yellow that my chairs are. I can describe them though as a very lemony yellow.
The horses in my entryway were done by the amazing artist, Ann Wood: http://annwood.net/blog/category/horses/. She also creates magic with pirate ships, birds and the like.
The Urban Outfitters side tables are fine... but I've had issues of wobbliness with some of their other stuff... but that may have had more to do with my poor assembling abilities...
And the black and white piece of artwork is a map that one of my favorite artists, Ed Ruscha drew... it's a long funny story, but it ends with me receiving the map at the end of the day, immediately going to get it framed and treasuring

The 70's decor reminds me of creepy school camps and old church halls.

wow! i've actually been a fan of seonna hong for awhile now, ever since her work caught my eye in a magazine a few years ago. her house captures the spirit of her work so well -- cute, feminine without being too girly, humorous, modern. at least, that's the way i see it.

This place looks like fun--midcentury works really well with kids and we are transitioning over to it...(now I could scream at some of my old pieces that I got rid of years ago--cast offs from my inlaws)...anyway, I feel a sudden uncontrollable urge to run out and buy 8 Eiffel chairs....can't decide on which colour though....

Those beams and planks are harder and harder to come by and for those who are mid-century buffs they are truely iconic. Painted though they lose all their character and charm.

I don't feel the same about painting the wood walls, usually, as is the case here, it is an improvement.

I am a big fan of Seonna Hong's artwork so it isn't a big surprise that her house is lovely and a mix of old/new influences. Totally cozy and charming.

I don't know how I missed this when it was first posted, but I'm glad to see it now (AT's year-end retrospectives do serve a purpose!).

This looks like a marriage between house and human rather than an enforced occupation by the latter -- she respects and delights in the house's architectural heritage; the house reciprocates by providing a perfect backdrop to her contemporary take on its mid-century aesthetic. The result is... love! And a genuine, liveable home as opposed to a Disney-esque timewarp into MCM Fantasyland.

I especially love the exposed wood in the bedroom, the loads of playful, original art, and the fusion of affordable furniture with high-end designer pieces. Kudos all around. Now, when can I visit?
