LA House Tour: Lynn and Leif's Paris Hotel Home

Remember when we blogged about Paris Hotel Boutique a few weeks ago? And we begged Lynn to let us do a house tour? Well she graciously agreed, and here's her beautiful home!

goldfing_livingroom.jpgName: Lynn Goldfinger-Abram & Leif Abram
Location: San Francisco, CA
Size: 1550 sq ft.
Years lived in: 10
Our style: Hollywood Glamour meets Paris Hotel with a modern twist!
Inspiration: Being a third generation San Franciscan, I have memories of the elegance of a bygone era; wearing your best dress with white gloves to shop in downtown Union Square, celebrating at hotels such as the Fairmont and the Palace. This has inspired me to try and recreate these elements in our home.

lyngoldfinger_thumbs.jpg

We're always looking for more candidates for house tours. If you or someone you know is interested in inviting us for a tour, please email us!

Favorite element: Views out of the back rooms and the homes Streamline Moderne architecture

Biggest Challenge in designing my home: Editing. I love vintage lamps and chairs. I cant seem to get enough of them, but have limited space in our home, so I unfortunately have to sell many of the great items I come across.

What friends say about my home: It has a lot of character and personality.

Biggest Embarassment in My Home: Our garage. I use it for storing my inventory and it is constantly in a state of chaos. Im embarrassed to have anyone walk through!

Proudest DIY: I have no decorating background and followed my own instincts to decorate our home.

Biggest Indulgence with respect to my home: Fresh flowers and fancy candles.

Best Advice given or received: Dont decorate in a hurry. Live in the home for awhile and get the feeling of it and then add a piece at a time. Also, Its better to purchase one quality piece than several less important pieces.

Dream Source for Stuff: 1stdibs.com & Paris flea markets.

Love the bath. folks always complaining about what to do with "awful" colored fixtures, how to camouflage /refinish/cover/demolish/jackhammer/ the pink toilet. nice to see someone embrace the colors.

Thank you all for your wonderful comments! I thought I'd pass along some of the source information. The master bedroom rug is from the Thomas Paul Collection. It's the damask tufted pile rug and it's a size 8" by 11." They carry them at Velocityartanddesign.com. I just love the Thomas Paul rugs. They have such great designs and are very plush...great quality, worth the investment. The black and white just makes the room come alive. The blue paint in the bedroom is Benjamin Moore's Blue Bonnet Regal Matte Finish. Thanks again for viewing and thanks Grace for putting the tour on!

Totally not my taste -- but I'd still love to stay there! Owners have a great eye for detail & ability to put things together. And that silver collection -- to die for.
Thank you for letting us into your home!

Oh my eyes have turned green, what a wonderful place. As someone with no design background or learning, this gives me hope!!!

And how fabulous that you drew a bath for the tour!

This is such a beautiful home! It's like a time capsule - but much better. I wish I had this sort of eye for detail and furniture. It must be so fun to just sit around and say "I live here".

You have a beautiful home!

I was wondering about the SF bus roll sign - is that a piece of the actual roll sign, or a reproduction of one? It's awesome.

Thank you Ace! That's a a piece of an actual rollsign from about the 1940's.

I love the home--not a surprise because I'm a big fan of the website but it must be difficult to keep all that hotel silver polished.

I know! The antique crown collection - OMG!!! AND the carving station... The whole abode is so sumptuous and gracious. I am so in love with your place, may I please be reincarnated as your next pet? I'll need a fancy collar, antique silver food dishes... In lieu of that, may I just wear a beautiful dress, gloves, hat, etc. and pose with a glass of Dom for a picture? In the immortal words of Jack Nicholson in As Good As It Gets, "I'M DYING HERE!"

This is just wild and wonderful all over itself. I think it's especially kicky that you have a "collection" of French crowns, instead of say, one, like most of us have? Hee hee hee!

But seriously... I'm so glad you've kept your yellow and green bathroom fixtures and tile, because they're just delicious.

There is at least one thing in each room that keeps this from being too-too. Nicely done, beautifully photographed.

But I sooooo want to swap the black leather chairs with the other wood-framed ones in the living room!

The most beautiful home I have seen.

How refreshing to see a home where there are beautiful objects to look at with no regard for al of the cold modern approach to decorating.

I LOVE it

hmmmmm, not 'loving' it...... I think you've been reading too much home & garden /country living/50% (....inching towards 60%) of elle decor.......you might want to pick up some italian or british design mags....Farley's on Portrero Hill has 'em.
I think if you threw in a few modern pieces, edited some of the 'decoration' and went a little more bold on the gold/white stuff...... it would be a super cool space....you're 75% there.
A few shiny black pieces, a big abstract painting, and 1 modern chai rin the living room ....now....that would look cool.

But good job though really ......I know how hard it is to get it all done. And...... we are here to help each other after all. The contest is really...just all in your mind

I agree with last post. You have wonderful taste, but it would look AWESOME if you threw in something modern for the unexpected like some modern art or a mod chair in the living room. ..Its the ying and yang thing.

NO -- no modern. Throwing something modern in would totally destroy what is cool about this.

Keep the abstract paintings and the shiny black whatever far away.

The elegance is breathtaking. I totally love each and every view. I also agree with the poster who applauded you for embracing the bathroom color rather than changing it. I hope pictures like these will bring great color back to bathroom appliances. The white is getting so very boring.

(really cute dog!)
