We fell in love with the large windows and high ceilings the moment we saw them. Good natural light is so important in Portland (you may have heard it gets a little gray here). We also love the picture molding. With more art than walls so it’s great to be able to rotate pictures as the mood strikes us without worrying about patching holes. It was the dining room that sealed the deal, however. We cook for friends and family often so when we saw there was room to feed a crowd -– we knew it was the space for us.
When I hear the word "upcycling" I generally think of specific products, but this project in Portland, Oregon is an interesting example of a how an entire building can go from tear-down to neighborhood asset.
