Name: Maryam and Max
Location: Beachwood Canyon - Los Angeles, California
Size: 1,900 square feet
Years lived in: 10 years
Living in the Hollywood Hills with an unobstructed city view is one of the ultimate LA fantasies. Maryam and Max's home is beautifully designed with modern furniture and a collection of Maryam's pottery scattered throughout the house. My favorite room is definitely the sitting room, where they often enjoy breakfast while taking in the view.

Maryam and Max love to entertain guests - the only problem: those guests never want to leave! As we were taking the last few detail photos of their home, Maryam offered to make lunch. We all sat together in the living room enjoying the most delicious salad I have had in a long time. Between the food, comfortable furniture, and incredible Los Angeles view, I too was perfectly happy to stay put!

Sprout Side Table
nice
This is ridiculously gorgeous. x
Oh my. One of the lovliest, most relaxing homes I've ever seen. The decor in each room seems to flow together seemlessly.
Lovely home. I especially enjoy the sideboard (presumably vintage) and the art work. However, since this isn't a food blog, I found the food pictures superfluous.
So serene!
I can see why no one wants to leave... it's beautiful.
Beautiful work guys... I love the vibe of it. It feels like relaxed 70s hippie with the furniture and plants, but the kitchen and bath bring it into today all modern like ... I love it all!
I love your shower! What brand is the shower faucet/body?
i love the mix of simplicity and eclectic pieces.

Did you design the fireplace?
The tiles are those lovely, vintage Batchelder colors, and really appropriate for where you live.
I want to live here. I wouldn't change a thing. So relaxing. So inviting. Nothing is heavy-handed...very subtle without being dull.
oh what a pretty gem atop the hills! I am fond of Beachwood Canyon and its nice to get a view from the inside of those homes. Love the view and all the ceramics are amazing.
That was lovely. The inside actually lives up to the view. All of the craftsy touches nicely balance the modern furniture.
I'm totally in love! Very well-put together.
Also, barrel vaulted ceiling swoon!!!
House looks great. Furniture is great, but I really don't see how photos of cutting food, nuts and pea in bowls, jewelery up close makes it a house tour. Perhaps I should take "artsy" photos of my "stuff" and call it a house tour. Sorry for being harsh, just my opinion. Overall, the place looks great and admire the Danish taste.
This house has some amazing bones! The decor only makes it that much better. :)
What a wonderful place to come home to!
I can't put it any better than PeteG: "ridiculously gorgeous". I am besotted with their clean yet intricate aesthetic.
The fireplace makes me laugh, though. Those vases really hate that green painting :)
i am intrigued with the bathroom. Is it a standing shower? or a tub?
But most imp where is that fixture from?
i need it, coz it has everything, a tub filler, hand shower and overhead shower.
I want the plants. Love them. Beautiful place.
Dream house. Love everything.
Beautiful home! I would love to know what kind of plant/tree that is in your bedroom by the white chair. It's absolutely gorgeous!
GORGEOUS! A new favorite for sure.
Too many vignettes! I don't need to see a bowl of fruit but want to see how their home is laid out! It is a lovely home at that.
Your house is very nice! I really like the buffet on photo 28. It's so beautiful!
What a beautiful house. It gives off a calming vibe.
I agree with daysunny, dont need to see pictures of a bowl of fruit or jewerly. Nice home.
Love this place, loads of character
I actually love to see the detail pictures of a home. When I walk into someone's house, I don't just view it from 10 feet away. I meet the owner, drink their tea, look at their collection of art and curiosities, their books, their photographs, from a distance, up close. I think that if a house tour has 40+ images, I don't see a problem with showing some images that is more about the experience of being in a home for the first time, and not purely for documenting what the rooms look like from a wide angle lens.
I really like this place - lovely!
But the first photograph made me giggle - it looks as if all of the other items are trying to get away from that little square artwork on the left side of the mantle.
I can't make out the details of the art, but it must be terrifying!
+10
This has to be my favourite house tour yet. Everything is just perfect!!
Wow, what is that succulent that has been bonsai'd into tree form? Gorgeous.
Hi everyone, this is maryam. Thanks for all your sweet and not so sweet comments :) - it’s quite interesting and fun to get all the different comments! Glad most of you enjoyed the tour. We had lots of fun doing it.
I believe that so much of what makes a home interesting is all the details one adds to the place – making jewelry and pottery is my passion and thus I have filled our home with my work and the work of others whom I love – my husband and I cook a lot and our kitchen is always filled with food and edible stuff. Although we had to hide some to expose the kitchen, our kitchen would be nothing without bowls filled with fruits and nuts – I love how AT captured the true essence of our home.
Anyway here are the answers to your questions.
. Our bathtub is custom made with little square tiles from Home Depot to look like a tub - the fixture is Dornbracht. http://www.dornbracht.com/en/ - not including the hand shower that broke and was replaced by another brand which I don’t remember the name.
. Yes the fireplace is an original Batchelder fireplace! Unfortunately the base tiles broke during remodeling but we saved the rest and love using it during the rare Los Angeles cold winter nights
. Most my plants, including the succulent in the bedroom were bought from the most amazing nursery in Pasadena called California Cactus Center. It’s like a museum – a must see if you love succulents
http://www.cactuscenter.com/
. The little green painting on the fireplace mantle is a cute little harmless painting which has been sitting there for 9 years and waiting for the art crowd to reach him.
This home looks so relaxing and appealing. The sofa is especially good-looking. I like the balance of open, uncluttered surfaces but with just the right amount of decoration. The pottery can be enjoyed for it's beauty and it's usefulness...It doesn't get any better than that.
Just gorgeous! My fantasy home. Would you trade for a mini loft in downtown?! LOL!
What color is the exterior paint? Love the house!
exterior paint: Benjamin Moore HC 103
I like the bones of the house a lot. Not a fan of the kitchen. Would love to see a bit more color. Some of the white on white with furniture and art against the walls isn't working for me. And definitely could do without the vignettes. They do have some beautiful things and I loved the plants. They must not have digging dogs. :(
I think this is gorgeous and a home that I would love to live in - clean, calm and filled with artistic and personal elements. I appreciate the handmade quality mixed with great design, and the use of natural materials. What a wonderful place to come home to at the end of a busy day! And I love seeing pictures of the folks who live in the home.
what a great home- the plants on the inside are lovely.
What a fantastic and relaxing feeling I had watching these pictures. Beautiful house and I really like the touch of the plants!
Beautiful home! Thanks for the tour....one of my favorites yet...
I have been officially vignetted to tears.
lovely, gracious home. just wondering what the strange little room is at the end of the bridge onto the top level of the house. Sorry for that weird description - I am not from the US & have never seen such a thing...
Really fascinating home. I wish I could get a chance to have a cup of coffee at dawn beside that wide green faced window... Also the hardwood floors are looking nice.
For improving a home a lots of things are involved like kitchen remodeling,Bathroom remodeling, choosing best floor or whether it'll be of Wood or tile's and so on. For these purpose, here a lots of stuff to get the right direction to choose the best option. And I more liked the step by step approach for every details.
hardwood floors
Heehee. "Vignetted to tears". Please re-name this one "Rooms With A Views". We could all afford this typical house couldn't we? Love you AT.
This just might be my favorite house tour on AT thus far.
I just keep coming back to it, scouring the thumbnails for inspiration.
I LOVE your home!
