For all of you good people who have been following along with Meg and Josh's mudroom renovation, the big moment has finally come: all the work is complete, and it's time to take a look at the finished space!
Any renovation project is special, but there's something extra special about a DIY renovation project. It may have taken us longer than we had planned and there may have been a few hiccups along the way, but there's nothing quite like seeing the end result and knowing that we did this.
While we love absolutely every aspect of our renovation, the laundry closet takes the cake as our favorite addition. Before, the washer and dryer were the first things people would see when they came in the back door - not the ideal first impression. Now the appliances are tucked away inside the closet, hidden from visitors.
It's also made for a much quieter home without hearing the hum of the machines, which have pretty much been running nonstop as of late. Did we mention our OTHER addition? We're now a family of four! Our newest boy arrived shortly after we wrapped up the project.
While less exciting than a new baby, the cork floors are another favorite addition. They're warm, comfortable and a beautiful contrast with all the white that's going on. We've definitely heard mixed opinions on the durability of cork, but so far we are more than happy with the choice. One thing's for certain, this rough and tumble crew is sure to put the flooring to the ultimate test, so only time will tell.
To say the space has gotten lots of use is an understatement. Between the mudroom, the laundry closet and the kitchen nook - this space is used and abused. Each of the changes that were made had our growing and crazy family in mind, and each has proven itself to be a smart choice. The nook, by far, has gotten the bulk of the use. It's where we work, eat and play together as a family. (So happy to be back to eating our meals at the table instead of the sofa!)
