Living space (Image credit: Submitted by Kaitlin)

Name: Kaitlin and her dachshund Dilbert
Location: Highlands — Denver, Colorado
The basics: 2 months, rented, 520 square feet

When hunting for her apartment, Kaitlin wanted a space that was as lovely inside as out. She found exactly what she was looking for with her super cute studio in a dog friendly neighborhood. Good news for her and great news for Dilbert!

Tell us a little (or a lot) about your home and the people who live there: Amidst the lively Highlands neighborhood in downtown Denver, my little boy Dilbert (a 6-month-old Dachshund) and I live steps away from Linger (an old mortuary turned restaurant that overlooks the city), multiple breweries and most importantly—Little Man Ice Cream! One of the things I love most about LoHi is the pup-friendly community—from water bowls featured outside most retail doors, to dog treats and tennis balls readily awaiting in our apartment lobby, the Highlands is the perfect place to raise a four-legged child. It was important to me to find an apartment with many amenities and outdoor areas—I didn’t want us to feel confined within a 520-square-foot apartment amidst a concrete jungle!

What is your favorite room and why? One of the largest challenges in studio apartment living (aside from lack of storage space!) is dividing one small room into multiple smaller, distinct spaces. Fortunately, I got lucky in finding a unit that included a half-wall to help break up the sleeping and living areas. I’d have to say my favorite “room” is the living space. I love the bright, clean openness of the space—especially when the Juliet balcony door is cracked open. It’s the perfect place to relax and drink wine while hearing echoes from the stadium blocks away.

If you could magically change something about your home, what would it be? Aside from tripling the square footage?! Jokes aside, (but not really a joke) I’d love it if my apartment had a walkout balcony. With 300 days of sunshine in Denver a year, I could get some serious usage of an outdoor living area!

Kaitilin’s words of wisdom: Stay true to your style—don’t just go with what’s popular on Pinterest! Find decor inspiration in what you enjoy—whether that be art, traveling, etc.

Thanks, Kaitlin!
