#5 would be cool as part of a shower curtain.
IF you are a believer in FENG SHUI:
Refrain from hanging items on the backs of doors. Doing this increases the weight of the door and adds more struggle to your life.
I personally like #11 because it hides what your are storing.
I always love the idea of these but I've never found an over-the-door organizer that really worked for me, so I've sworn off them.
However, #11 makes me want to rethink that.
I want more doors now.
#11 gave me a great idea, as I need both more jewelry storage and a full-length mirror. I can accomodate both by hanging that off the door of the half-bath in my master bedroom.
These are great ideas but I wish we could find some projects involving bifold doors (short of taking them down and putting up curtains*).
*Nice idea but I'd like to keep the cats out off of our clothes for a little while until we put them on and then let them shed on them.
@Lori.Sinden
Or mirrored sliders... ugh, I haven't figured out a good way to work with them except to hang curtains or tapestries in front using Ikea's Dignitet curtain wire / Riktig curtain clips
I own #11... and I absolutely LOVE it. All my friends have gone out to buy them, too.
It's a little over-priced, and the style isn't anything special, but it's the perfect space saver, and I can clearly see/ hide all my jewelry. I have mine on the outside of my bathroom door (the door opens into the bathroom, so it's virtually flush with the outside wall. It works as a mirror for the back of my head in the bathroom, and a mirror in the hallway when the door is closed.
Nice collection. I wish there was a way to do something similar with bi-fold doors!
@Dragynphyre I took mine off the tracks completely and used them in the living room as actual mirrors. Hung up curtains over the closet instead. Much cheaper than buying mirrors that size!
These all look like they belong in a dorm room. And I've never had an over-the-door-anything that didn't interfere with the proper opening/shutting of the door. Pass.
I've had the same problem Griffin has. Is it just my doors? Is there some standard gap that most doors have that my doors don't? A couple of these could work for me if it weren't for that problem.
Over-door stuff never fits on my doors. They keep the doors from closing.Otherwise,I'd love these things.
I have never seen a over the door solution that is even remotely attractive. Mind you, I only have one interior door - the bathroom. I have a small closet with a louvre door - where the water heater lives - and hanging s-shaped hooks on the inside louvres means I can hang a few things. And really, what's the point of something like #7 that just holds a few towels? Even my minuscule bathroom has two towel rails.
I have the urban outfitters one - I don't personally think it is worth the $89 (not $69 as you have printed, and it's still $89 by the way) that I paid for it, but I kept it b/c it would be a pain to ship back. Plus it actually is cute and functional. I keep it on the inside of my closet door and use it to hold makeup, hair clips, and scarves.
i have a rack that hangs over the back of my bedroom door - holds scarves, belts, small handbags and my dressing gown :) if only it looked as attractive as these! for those asking about door gaps (Im in Australia though) but my house is old and original heavy indoor doors and there is plenty gap for door hanging things, so maybe more likely in old houses...
Saw this on the inside of a friend's pantry door--over the door shoe organizer stocked with granola bars, small packs of fruit snacks, and other healthy snack fare. Kind of like an open vending machine display, you know??
The first pic -- I immediately thought that is so Real Simple. Lo and behold. I generally like the styling of that landing strip/entrance hallway. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I use the same Ikea Molger(sp) in mine.
My husband hates all these over the door storage hooks and also wall mount hooks, but to me, the alternative is having all this crap on the floor or off the floor. There's only so much storage to go around in a 1 bedroom apartment.
I store my extra cosmetics and shampoo in a clear one of these on the inside of the closet. Worked great in college too when we were sharing bathrooms. Definitely dorm-y and annoying when shutting the doors but if you need storage space they work.
