ooohhh! What's the silver/stainless tile in the white kitchen picture with turquoise ceiling? Pretty! Looks like the design company is located in Toronto : TM Design LTD.
WOW. I couldn't get past the first picture. Love that kitchen.
Stainless penny round tiles!
Oh, and I love the turquoise painted ceiling too.
Loving #1 and #5.
I've wanted to do a color on my ceilings - but with popcorn I've been hesitant....
...tho I can't help but wonder how weird a blue popcorn ceiling would look?
I like the blue & purply ones best! What I like about the first pic is that it shows how a painted ceiling can add lots of color to the mostly white space. It might even be easier than painting the cabinets.
love love love that 1st image! reminds me of mermaids, in the best way. And the tiny kitchen in photo 9 is beautiful. I want it.
I love painted ceilings. I painted the ceiling on my back porch a pale blue. It is not popcorn, but it is textured plaster, and it was a pain in the butt to do. I don't think I would do it again (or I'd hire somebody to do it), but I love the effect. I wouldn't hesitate to paint a drywall ceiling.
That first pic made me faint!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!!
Bepsf, the blue ceiling is a great idea, but if you ever want to remove your popcorn, think twice about painting it. If it is already painted, go for it, otherwise it is WAY easier to remove if it was never painted. Maybe hold the curiosity until you have had it removed...
Oh my! I LOVE #1.
Wow--what great impact these painted ceilings have! I don't think I could do a stripe, but that first kitchen, the purple-ceilinged dining room and the galley kitchen with the black--all fantastic! It's a look that I've never thought about--great post!
Yeah! I painted my bedroom ceiling black and have been planning to paint my kitchen and dining room ceiling light blue. New I think I may do the living room too...
We just painted our MB in an aqua (eggshell), and painted our awful popcorn ceiling a lighter version in a semi-gloss and it looks pretty great. I've removed popcorn before and it is a huge messy pain! Although no popcorn looks the best we have over 2000 sg ft of popcorn ceilings... I'll be painting them all in a semi-gloss.
I imagine painting a ceiling is a little like coloring your own hair - seems like a good idea but the results are always just a little bit off.
The walls in my living room and dining room, which open to each other but are separated by crown molding, etc. are lavender. The ceiling in my living room is a lighter shade of lavender and the ceiling in the dining room is a lavender shade that's darker than the walls. So there's continuity and separation at the same time. It looks great.
What a unique idea to add some color to a room, without having to figure out which wall is best to paint. Love this.
For me, a white ceiling in a room with non-white painted walls is as visually jarring as a man wearing white tube socks with a suit.
The baby's room is brilliant. Incredible balance of the weight of color, pattern, texture, form. Absolutely excellent.
Oh, and I love the fork mural with the black slice of wall to ceiling. Love to be surprised and this did.
bepsf, maybe you could skim over the popcorn with purpose-made filler (I'm not familiar with US brand-names so it would be pointless my trying to suggest one but such fillers exist!) and then you could paint your freshly smoothed-out ceiling whatever colour that takes your fancy (assuming that you haven't lost the blood-supply to your arms by then)!
@bepsf, it's not expensive to have it removed, and it's soooo worth it. In my last house, I did a lot of renovation and it was the single best decision I made.
