Over the weekend, I bought a new picture frame for our guest room, only to discover a small scratch in it once I got home. No matter — I had some toothpaste on hand and was able to get it out quickly using the following steps.
While this won't work for deep gouges, it's the perfect trick for minor scratches. All you need is a lint-free cloth, a non-gel toothpaste (one with baking soda is even better), and a damp cloth.
1. Clean the glass well and dry it using a lint-free cloth.
2. Apply a dollop of toothpaste to a soft cloth and rub it into the scratch using a circular motion.
3. After buffing for 30-40 seconds, wipe the toothpaste off with a damp cloth.
4. Dry again with the lint-free cloth. Repeat if needed.

Shaw's Original Fir...
Can you do this on plastic eyeglasses?
Could I do this on a mirror?
Can you do this on an iphone?
How clever!
a non-gel toothpaste (one with baking soda is even better)
Is it the baking soda that removes the scratch? Would a little baking soda mixed with water to make a paste work the same or is the scratch removal only effective with toothpaste?
Thanks!
Whatver you do, do NOT do this on an iphone, because the screen is not made of glass.
This does work on cloudy headlights covers.
Thanks, hethyr!
Uh, an iPhone screen IS made of glass...
