Name: Sally
Location: Austin, Texas
My boyfriend and I just moved to Austin, Texas two months ago, into a home that we decided was perfect for us solely based on the photos posted along side its' Craigslist ad. Arriving at this three bedroom house, with only what could fit in our small prius (our 45lb dog taking up quite a bit of that space) we were daunted by the idea of turning this big empty shell into a "home."
With the help of Apartment Therapy for inspiration, MANY trips to the local vintage/antique stores, countless hours on craigslist and more heart and soul than we realized we had- we have managed to make a home. This is the first place my boyfriend and I have really developed together, from the ground up, and we were both pleasantly surprised to find out how well we compliment each others' sense of aesthetic.
The house is an older craftsman with some updated detailing and a completely updated kitchen. With the house being almost too cute for its' own good, it was important for me to stay away from traditional, and maintain a feeling of vintage and eclectic. We got to know our new city through it's tag sales and vintage stores! I tend to go over board with color and outrageous pieces, while my boyfriend tends to be drawn to earth tones. Initially, this was a frightening realization for both of us, but with compromise and openness we some how created a space that is more beautiful to us than if we hadn't have the others' influence.
Thanks, Sally!

Your home is lovely, and I especially love the lighting treatment above the bed. Is it DIY? If so, please post instructions!
Where is the zig zag rug from!! I want one so badly and can't find one anywhere...
Looks great. I love the Chevron rug! Where did you get it??????
love the lights over the bed!
I love that corner full of pictures. I may steal that...if I can find a corner in my home.
and...before someone here tells you that they're hung too high....they're NOT. It's perfect!
I just bought a great rug from Rugs USA that looks exactly like this! It looks aweome in my living room. http://www.rugsusa.com/rugsusa/rugs/milliken-vibe/techno-black/2795568315-54078.html
I love the dining room table. Where did you get it?
Love, love, love the pictures hung in the corner. Never thought of doing something like that. Genius!

2 months?!
oh, and yeah love it.
I love, love, love the dining room table. How would you describe it so that I can look for something similar.
LOVE your huge ottoman coffee table. where can i get one like it???
Love the dining room table!
where did you get that ottoman?? I've seen that in a handful of places and love it!
well, not a fan of the dead bird over the tv, *but* there's so much other really cool stuff at work: the signs, the corner photos, the lighting over the bed...house tour, please!
Another fan of the pipe/light fixture you have! That may be the lighting solution I've been looking for in my living room!
agree with sistervashti - LOVE the corner photo wall. i've got a lot of different frames of various shapes/sizes/colors and i used to have them in a straight line across the wall.
but for the sake of my sanity, i'm going to try it your way. getting things level with one another is too difficult.
Great pad! I'm totally digging the living room rug, the huge dining room table and the neat light fixture above the bed.
My husband and I moved to Austin 2 months ago too! So you're my craigslist competition ;) Do you have any vintage/antique store recommendations? I've visited a few but have had the most luck with craigslist.
Cute place!
I actually gasped when I saw the art arrangement in the corner. REALLY well done!
I am pretty sure that their dinning table is from cb2 because I have it too! But I could be wrong since there are many tables in this style available. If it is indeed that table, it is made from reclaimed saal wood from old Indian railroad ties.

I think their lights in the bedroom are also an older product from cb2. i think they sell them now, but with orange cords... anyway - they added there own diy twist to them which looks awesome.
really love the place :)
This might be one of my favorite apartments EVER! Come one AT, let's have a full house tour!
All the elements just fit together so perfectly, it's hard to believe that two opposing tastes are presented here! I especially can't get over that leather couch! Please tell me where it came from!
HOUSE TOUR!!
Are those arrows in the bird cage? How funny.
Making such a clever, comfortable home in two months is an amazing accomplishment. Congratulations!
I think you did exceedingly well in assembling your new living space.
Congratulations, and good wishes for your time there.
Any idea on the brand for the couch/chair/coffee table? I really like how everything came together!
@DCAI, you can find zig-zag rugs at West Elm.
Really like the last picture.
What stores in the ATX did yall use?
LOVE your house - moving to Austin in about a week and would love to know what antique stores you went too!
Props on the bed lighting/tapestry and cornered picture montage.
After some research, it looks like the couch, club chair, and coffee table are from Four Hands in Austin and are the Carnegie Abbot Vintage Leather collection.
I love this so much! Where did you get those lights above your bed?
Your table is incredible!
Really lovely, you clearly have a good eye. And all in two months, amazing.
One gripe though, if unsure about apostrophes, best to leave them out :)
I especially like the graphic chevron rug, the art collection over the leather chair and the "headboard"/lighting treatment in the bedroom.
We just met Sally this evening when she bought one of my craigslist finds that didn't work for us!! We were discussing AT and she told me they just posted their house up. I have to say I love what they've done and in only 2 mos. Totally jealous and I am with snakehips in that I have now met my CL competition. :P Or maybe a friendly face to help each other out. haha
I love your living room black & white area rug...where did u get it??
