I'm a field editor and stylist. I look at homes to place in pages of magazines. I drew my inspiration by piecing together things I liked from the homes I scouted in order to create my perfect family abode.
I also designed our home on a budget and because we have a 2 year old, I made sure to include many ways to cleverly hide clutter!
Thanks, Sarah!

AT - house tour please! I adore your home Sara, well done!
Yup - I'm gonna need to see more pictures of that great kitchen and the neat-o eating bar-thing.
there are more pics on a link found on her website:

not enough of the kitchen, though!
Sara - Saw your house in BH&G, and just loved it, and now I'm thrilled to see it on AT. It's inspired! Great work!!
i always read 'best advice' from house tours. thing bout house call is there's not 'best advice' bit - would love to hear her 'best advice'
These House Calls are such a tease! =) I wanna see more too!
Ditto that PIER723!
Gorgeous! And...a 2 year old? I wish I could have a couch in that color with a 2 year old.
What a warm and peaceful home! My bedroom is done in that icy blue, mocha tan, pale yellow mix you have in the living room area. I feel my blood pressure drop just walking into that color scheme.
I love that your daughter's room is more sophisticated than cutsie.
Beautiful and welcoming home! I love the simplicity. That is totally in line with my style as well. It is hard to go wrong from a starting place of no clutter!
moan.... this is sooo my style!
If you are ever in s FL please do my house.
I love this style. There's a lot to admire, here. My only criticism would be that - to me - it looks as if it could have been done in a weekend. It seems a bit lacking in "personal" pieces. But overall, it's truly lovely and the colors are soft and the textures really make it seem layered and cozy. Nicely done!
Where are the kitchen chairs from?
Beautiful!
The photos of the rest of the home seen in the link given to us by @berkeley.loves.grey, are gorgeous! Need a full house tour pronto with source lists! :)
I recognized this home immediately from seeing it in Better Homes & Gardens. It's so well-thought-out for use by a young family. Everything they need is handy yet it avoids clutter. I agree with those who think the color scheme is very soothing. Good choice for a home with little ones.
Love this. Might be one of my favourites.
I love this house call. The fact that the space is bright , functional, and comfortable. Love the kitchen's turquoise tile detail and the layout looks interesting. Also the chalkboard -- very useful as well as fun --wish we had had one in our kitchen when I was a kid.
@Fromage, don't understand your comment... what is NOT personal here? (And if you cna do this in a weekend on a budget, you have better sources and resources than I do around h ere!!!)
Sara -- I can see your stylist touches! Love the way the rug and the roses (or whatever those flowers are) carry the color thru that photo. And the touches of pink positioned in the nursery! I think some people don't view their spaces in that way, but it looks so great when you do!
Sara's got style!
Any chance I could find out where the couch is from? It looks almost exactly like what I've been seeking out for a tricky small corner in my own living room...
I love some people's idea of "on a budget". Clearly it was a fairly large budget.
love the simple breakfast bar + beautifully framed mirror. more please!!
gorgeous! House Tour!....please
I spy Serena and Lily Senegalese baskets! I love those, and that site. What kind of blessed two year old do you have, to have white rugs and tan sectionals?!
Love! So light and looks like such a happy place.
Very nicely done! Can you please please tell me the name of tan color paint you used? I also have cherry hardwood floors...the tan color really compliments the floor. Thanks!
@AMANDASG - The sofa is from Furniture Envy. Check out her website.

love it too!
House tour stat! :)
Not a fan of the phrase "on a budget". Aren't most people on some kind of budget?
Nice calm color palette and vibe. Thanks for sharing the pics.
I suppose the term "Budget" is relative. I did splurge on a few key pieces, but the rest is a mix of Flea Market finds, sample sales, Ikea, etc.
The tan paint color is called Yorkshite Tan from Benjamin Moore.
Thanks again for all the comments!

It's worth looking at the other photos at houzz.com. This home is a gem. The home is joyful without looking like a preschool.
I'm sure Sarah already knows this, but it's a completely different level of clutter once children enter school. Our organizational system for our son worked very well from birth through preschool. Once he started kindergarten, we had to develop new strategies for staying on top of the flood of paper that comes with school. No doubt Sara will handle it beautifully.
I love the bookcase on the left. Any idea where I can find one?! Thanks!
I love your home. Thanks for sharing! I would love to know where the bar stools came from. I am currently trying very hard to make my "cookie cutter", suburbia home more eclectic! Thanks!!!
