I'm not sure I could live with quite that much "personality" but I love it. I love the layering of so many sentimental objects. And I think it would be a great environment for a child to grow up in.

Really nice! It looks very joyful. I am especially impressed with the way you have hung multiple pictures on the same wall--you have done it so each piece stands on its own but they work together.

I love that you are not afraid to put what you love in your rooms and display it all proudly! I hate being committed to a two or three color palette in each room. I am a big believer in breaking the rules if it is something that brings a smile to your face each time you walk in your home. I love your lanterns in your bedroom.

oh, and just the phrase 'hundred-year-old Edwardian cottage' is enough to make me pea-green with envy. *sigh*

This place is brimming with curiosities, joy and color - I LOVE it. Bravo - this truly feels like a lived-in, loved home...we need more posts like this one.

I have the tiny four-drawer chest seen in the bottom picture is in my kitchen! Mine is *exactly* the same. Mine was from my grandmother.

Nevis - Yes! it's the Finnia rug...it's held up beautifully despite daily abuse from my son, the dog, and the cat.

Rosenatti - The ceiling balloon lantern in Julian's room is about 7 years old from Anthropologie.

I live in a carriage house too and agree about the big doors and high ceilings being both the best and the worst elements. Thanks for the tour.

Sometimes I see places on AT that make me think, gee, I wish I could be a minimalist. Then I see places like this, and think, naah.

Love the home. This is the way I decorate, but I'm currently living with a minimalist mate. I will say that I am taking over like a lush, vibrant vine though!

I'm just curious where you have your desk, you know, for computing stuff and whatnot. I think we'd have to take over the loft with an office area probably.

I always leap to the assumption that this much art in the home implies that it is the home of an artist - am I wildly off base? I'm truly curious...

I am more minimalist at heart, that's just who I am, but this truly lovely home makes me wish a little bit that I was more extravagant. What a great place for anyone to live, especially a child!

Exactly what I'm trying to do with my place yet somehow my place looked like a preschool for the visually impaired.

This is a style I call "Hippie Chic" (Sam is probably not old enough to remember the 60's, but she's definitely captured the eclectic feeling in all the shops and boutiques back then). The color, the textiles, the stacking of wall art and the hanging things from ceilings etc....it's a look that if done right ---and you did!--- inspires imagination and creativity and enhances the feng shui for artistic endeavors greatly.

Oooh, I've always wanted one of those church offering candle stands... they were one of the few parts of my Catholic childhood that still feel "holy" to me now that I'm so lapsed that I'm an entirely different religion. =) You are so lucky to have scored one!

Is there a reason why all the thumbnail images at the top are linked to this post, not to larger images? That technique looks just like the posts where you click on thumbnails to pull up the large images except, in the case of this post and some others I've encountered, it seems to only serve to increase the number of hits that the post receives.

its very cute and colorful, and i might be the only one here thinking this but i feel it could use a little editing. it makes me hold my breath looking at each picture trying to take it all in, instead of exhaling (ahhhhh). i suppose i like the part of "home" that is relaxing after being out in the busy world.

This is a busy crazy space which is OBVIOUSLY filled with fun, love and happiness! Such an awesome environment for a child!
